LOS ALAMITOS: BOOKIES LUCK HEADS NOMINEES TO KING GLORIOUS STAKES

CYPRESS, Calif. —Bookies Luck, a two-time Del Mar Stakes winner, is among nine nominees to the $100,000 King Glorious Stakes.
Restricted to 2-year-olds bred or sired in California, the one-mile King Glorious will be run for the sixth time Saturday, Dec. 16, the next-to-last day of the Winter meet at Los Alamitos.
Owned by breeders Mr. and Mrs. Larry D. Williams and trained by Jeff Bonde, Bookies Luck followed up his 3 ¼ length victory in the I’m Smokin Sept. 1 with a nose decision over Smokem in the Golden State Juvenile Nov. 4.
A son of Lucky Pulpit and the Johannesburg mare Book ‘em Babe, Bookies Luck has won three of six and earned $214,649.
Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer nominated Night At the Opera, who returns to Southern California after finishing fifth in the Gold Rush Stakes Dec. 2 at Golden Gate Fields.
Fifth in the Golden State Juvenile, the Indian Evening gelding out of the Fusaichi Pegasus mare Talented is 1-for-4 for owner-breeder K N M Racing.
The other nominees to the King Glorious include Campaigner, Generally Lucky, Intimidate, Lucky Romano, Minoso, Royal Trump and Walk On Water.
Entries for the King Glorious will be taken Wednesday, Dec. 13.
