Oaklawn Jockey Club Policy regarding EHV-1

Effective Tuesday, March 6 and until further notice, Oaklawn Jockey Club, in coordination with the Arkansas Racing Commission and the Arkansas Agriculture Department will implement the following policy, which supersedes any previous policies regarding EHV-1:

Beginning Tuesday, March 6, 2018:

• Horses from Turfway Park will be allowed in the Oaklawn barn area under the following conditions:

o A health certificate (certificate of veterinary inspection) signed by an accredited veterinarian that includes the following statement:
 “I have examined all the animals identified on this certificate within 72 hours of shipment date and found them to be free from signs of Equine Herpesvirus Myeloencephalopathy (EHM). During the last 28 days, these animals have not been exposed to EHM or located on an EHM confirmed or an EHM suspected premises.”
 A valid rectal temperature at time of inspection.
 Evidence of vaccination with a USDA approved modified live or killed virus vaccine for EHV-1 and Equine Influenza, administered not less than 14 days and not more than 90 days prior to the date of entry.

Beginning Thursday, March 15, 2018:

• Horses from Turf Paradise will be allowed in the Oaklawn barn area under the above conditions.

Until further notice, any horse that has been at the Thoroughbred Training Center in Lexington, KY and Belmont Park in Elmont, NY in for the past 28 days will not be allowed on the grounds at Oaklawn.
