Five two-year-old colts and geldings are set to go in the King’s Swan Stakes; it’s carded as race 3, note the early post.
Race 3), 6 Furlongs King’s Swan S. Purse $100,000 FOR TWO-YEAR OLDS. Post Time:
( 1:18)/12:18/11:18/10:18 ) Exacta; Trifecta (.50); Super (.10); Pick 3 Races (3-5); Double Wagers
Petrov (1), Moquett/Ortiz, I; Flatter colt took his maiden debut in impressive fashion, stalking a quick pace then driving past the leader to win by almost four lengths; trainer with 2-year-old maiden winner next out, 11 percent.
La Cat Warrior (2), Gullo/Arroyo; gelding out of Majestic Warrior was a game winner in his racing debut, staying just off a sensible pace then battling over the Belmont stretch to win by a length; that effort produced the field’s highest speed figure. Gullo with a maiden winner next out, 13 percent.
The Walk (3), Albertrani/Carmouche; following his next to last effort in the Grade 3 Futurity at Belmont, Hanson gelding dueled in a Parx overnight stakes only to surrender the lead and finish second; he comes in off a fine work for a trainer that’s a mere 9 percent with his 2-year-old stock.
Hotfoot (4), Contessa/Gryder; Aikenite gelding dominated two back in breaking his maiden, but was equally dominated last out in the same overnight contest as the foe to his inside; hard to endorse.
Even Thunder (5), Orseno/Ortiz, J; Even the Score gelding debuts for the Orseno barn following a strong victory at Canterbury; first’s in the Orseno barn after a win hit at a 11 percent rate next out.
Selections: 2, 4, 1, 5.
