Bull Dozer (7): Has been steadily improving and should get a good set up with a lot of speed signed on. Since coming into the Navarro barn he has won 3 of 5 races and has been a totally different horse.
Looking for a Kiss (1): This was once a promising horse before they tried to put him on the Derby trail. Getting back to sprinting was just what he needed and it showed in his last.
Homespun Hero (2): The one to beat for the Ramsey’s but he will not get an easy lead in this race.
Race 2) 1ˆ Mile. (Turf) ™OC 75000n1x FILLIES THREE YEARS OLD $1 Daily Double / $1 Exacta / $.50 Trifecta / $.10 Superfecta /
$1 Super Hi 5 / $1 Bet 3 (Races 2-3-4) / $.50 Pick 4 (Races 2-3-4-5) Post Time: (12:00)/11:00/10:00/ 9:00
Dancing Waves (1): Chad Brown bring this one back off an extended layoff and adds lasix as well as Javier Castellano. These are all positive signs for this one and I don’t expect the 5/1 morning line to hold.
Sweeping Paddy (3): The connections were very high on this one prior to the Breeders’ Cup and she did not run poorly. This could be the start to a big 2017 campaign.
Dream Dancing (6): The turf efforts were much better than her dirt efforts and I am happy she is back on the correct surface.
Race 3) 7 Furlongs. ™HcnBrti-G3 Hurricane Bertie S. Grade III. Purse $100,000 FILLIES
AND MARES, FOUR YEARS OLD AND UPWARD. $1 Daily Double / $1 Exacta / $.50 Trifecta / $.10 Superfecta /
$1 Super Hi 5 / $1 Bet 3 (Races 3-4-5)
Post Time: (12:30)/11:30/10:30/ 9:30
Genre (1): I love the cutback to 7 furlongs for this Pletcher starter. Last out she got into a speed duel with the likely favorite today which was unnecessary. She should be able to work out a better trip from the inside post and fire a better effort second off the layoff.
Curlin’s Approval (3): The clear one to beat in this spot and the class of the field. The rider switch to Saez is a positive as he has the ability to relax horses that others cannot.
Race 4) 1„ Mile. (Turf) ™Mdn 56k Purse $56,000 (includes $8,000 FOA – Florida Owners
Awards) FOR MAIDENS, FILLIES THREE YEARS OLD. $1 Daily Double / $1 Exacta / $.50 Trifecta / $.10 Superfecta /
$1 Super Hi 5 / $1 Bet 3 (Races 4-5-6)
Post Time: ( 1:00)/12:00/11:00/10:00
Bogulator (6): The two times this filly has seen a firm turf they were her best two races. She should see a firm turf Saturday and put forth another good effort vs a bad field which should be good enough to win.
Union Way (11): Comes in second off the layoff following two solid efforts and does not face much in this race. Another step forward makes her a player at a solid price.
Jaunt (13): The one to beat in the race, however the post will do her no favors.
Race 5) 1„ Mile. PoseidonHB400K Poseidon H. Purse $400,000 FOUR YEAR OLDS AND
UPWARD. $1 Daily Double / $1 Exacta / $.50 Trifecta / $.10 Superfecta /
$1 Super Hi 5 / $1 Bet 3 (Races 5-6-7) / $.50 Pick 4 (Races 5-6-7-8)
Post Time: ( 1:30)/12:30/11:30/10:30
Madefromlucky (6): The “other” Pletcher in the race who last fast a speed bias at Gulfstream and was never given an opportunity to win. He will be ready to fire his best second off the layoff.
Stanford (4): Has only been out of the exacta once at Gulfstream in 5 career starts and is the one to beat here at a 1/1 morning line.
Cherry Wine (5): Comes in off a long layoff which Romans has excelled with over the years and I don’t think he would pick this spot of he wasn’t ready to fire his best.
Race 6) 1„ Mile. (Turf) Mdn 56k Purse $56,000 (includes $8,000 FOA – Florida Owners
Awards) FOR MAIDENS, THREE YEARS OLD. $1 Daily Double / $1 Exacta / $.50 Trifecta / $.10 Superfecta /
$1 Super Hi 5 / $1 Bet 3 (Races 6-7-8)
Post Time: ( 2:01)/ 1:01/12:01/11:01
Slaimy (3): Second time Pletcher start and catches a weak maiden field for the level.
Data Room (14): Though Castellano takes off to ride our top pick, this one comes out of a very live Saratoga maiden race, however he struggled last out at Belmont which was not his best effort as the race favorite. The post is a negative but I’m willing to take a shot on him if the 15-1 holds.
Confiscate (1):The trainer does not excel with first time starters but he is more than capable and this one is very well breed for the turf.
Race 7) 5 Furlongs. (Turf) Ladies’ Turf Sprint S. Purse $125,000
FILLIES AND MARES, FOUR YEARS OLD AND UPWARD $1 Daily Double / $1 Exacta / $.50 Trifecta / $.10 Superfecta /
$1 Super Hi 5 / $1 Bet 3 (Races 7-8-9) /
$.20 Rainbow Pick 6 (Races 7-12) Post Time: ( 2:32)/ 1:32/12:32/11:32
Ruby Notion (3): Has always had the talent and with Ward going to his go to man in this big spot, Johnny V, my hunch says this one is live at a big price.
Pretty Perfection (8): Was ridden to perfection last out over this very course and with a similar trip/ride she will have a big chance.
Nite Delite (11): A consistent runner that can be used to fill out the exotics and at square price.
Race 8) 7 Furlongs. Mdn 56k Purse $56,000 (includes $8,000 FOA – Florida Owners Awards)
FOR MAIDENS, THREE YEARS OLD. $1 Daily Double / $1 Exacta / $.50 Trifecta / $.10 Superfecta /
$1 Super Hi 5 / $1 Bet 3 (Races 8-9-10) / $.50 Pick 5 (Races 8-12) Post Time: ( 3:04)/ 2:04/ 1:04/12:04
Eastport (5): A very nice homebred for Robert Evans making his debut and attracting Jose Ortiz.
Looking for Eight (8): Chased one of the nicest maiden winners this meet and should improve in his second start for Tomilison.
Blind Ambition (3): Hearing that this Pletcher is the real deal and has all the makings to win first out.
Race 9) 5 Furlongs. (Turf) Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint S. Purse
$125,000 FOUR YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD $1 Daily Double / $1 Exacta / $.50 Trifecta / $.10 Superfecta /
$1 Super Hi 5 / $1 Bet 3 (Races 9-10-11) /
$.50 Pick 4 (Races 9-10-11-12) Post Time: ( 3:38)/ 2:38/ 1:38/12:38
Long on Value (3): Has the perfect style for this turf course and should get a dream trip from the inside under Rosario.
Rainbow Heir (1): The best two races he has run both came on turf and the one in Saratoga came against a few of these, and you won’t want him to beat you when he goes off in the 10-1 range.
Power Alert (11): In his last start he looked like his old self and has shown no signs of slowing down. This is a speed race, but he is a must use.
Race 10) 1½ Mile. (Turf) -G3 La Prevoyante H. Grade III. Purse $200,000 FILLIES
AND MARES, FOUR YEARS OLD AND UPWARD $1 Daily Double / $1 Exacta / $.50 Trifecta / $.10 Superfecta /
$1 Super Hi 5 / $1 Bet 3 (Races 10-11-12) Post Time: ( 4:14)/ 3:14/ 2:14/ 1:14
Desiree Clary (4): She never should have lost her last race in which she was mugged multiple times in the stretch only to lose to stable mate. She picks up the best rider on the turf in Javier Castellano and is the one to beat.
Arles (7): Just missed in both stakes since coming to America and is a player in this race. Trainer Graham Motion doesn’t run many in the winter at Gulfstream, so the ones he runs you know are live.
Paige (11): Has come into her own since the end of the summer beating stablemate and top pick Desiree Clary last out.
Race 11) 1½ Mile. (Turf) -G3 W. L. McKnight H. L. MCKNIGHT H.. Grade III. Purse
$200,000 FOUR YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD. $1 Daily Double / $1 Exacta / $.50 Trifecta / $.10 Superfecta /
$1 Super Hi 5
Post Time: ( 4:50)/ 3:50/ 2:50/ 1:50
Mr. Maybe (10): I have seen Chad Brown freshen horses for Graded Stakes at Gulf and come away with wins too many times not to make it the top pick here.
Sadler’s Joy (11): His last race was very good and was validated when Monclair came back to run a good second in the Allen Jerkens. This is a big step up but the talent is there to make this jump.
Charming Kitten (6): Some will say they got over aggressive when going to Ireland, he was in top form before leaving and loves Gulfstream; he is a must use.
Race 12) 1„ Mile.-G1 Pegasus World Cup Invitational S. Grade I. Purse
$12,000,000 FOUR YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD. $1 Exacta / $.50 Trifecta / $.10 Superfecta / $1 Super Hi 5 Post Time: ( 5:40)/ 4:40/ 3:40/ 2:40
Arrogate (1): Many of you who follow me year round know I touted this horse prior to the Travers and then again prior to the Classic when no one else gave him a chance. Why would we dare go against the best horse in training again.
California Chrome (12): I’m sure by now everyone knows only one horse has won at this distance going 1 1/8th breaking from post twelve on the Gulf dirt course since 2006, that was Big Brown in the Florida Derby, and while we can make all these bold statements about the posts having a big issue, lets be honest, this is a match race between Chrome and Arrogate.
Noble Bird (4): If there’s any hope for one of these two to get upset, it comes from the Casse trainee. He has freaked before and we all know that Gulf plays to the speed bias.
Keen Ice (9): He must be the most successful horse to very rarely win. He has run 19 races and only has won two races( The Travers and his maiden victory) but has banked 2.4 million; always around for a piece and should be used for exotics.
