Trainer Doug O’Neill starts three of the five entries in today’s running of the Grade 3 Robert B. Lewis, where a purse of $150k and valuable Kentucky Derby points await; let’s take a look at the field.

SANTA ANITA

Race 2) Grade 3 Robert B. Lewis Stakes 3YO 1&1/16th Miles Post Time 3:59 EST

Royal Mo (1), Shirreffs/Espinoza; Uncle Mo colt broke his maiden last out as the race favorite; Shirreffs with a last out maiden winner hits at 16 percent in their next start; solid worktab.

Irap (2), O’Neill/Gutierrez; Tiznow colt gets first time blinkers, a 13 percent trainer angle, following his weak effort as the race fave here to end 2016; Gutierrez returns.

Dangerfield (3), O’Neill/Desormeaux; second of the O’Neill tri has shown in his last two, both graded contests; exits a bullet work but has yet to post a speed figure that’ll threaten a couple of these.

Term of Art (4), O’Neill/Baze; unlike his stablemate, O’Neill takes the shades off this Tiznow colt following his weak effort in the G3 Sham; owns a Grade 3 score two back in a Del Mar “rained-off”; and like his stablemate has yet to hit a speed rating that’ll threaten the for to his outside.

Sheer Flattery (5), Hollendorfer/Smith; stretching out out for the first time over a sloppy go here in late December, this Flatter colt was all game in breaking his maiden, an effort that produced the field’s highest speed figure; look for more of the same here.

Selections: 5, 1, 2
