HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The 20-cent Rainbow 6 went unsolved for the 28th consecutive racing card at Gulfstream Park Wednesday, producing a carryover jackpot of $734,018.69 for Thursday’s program.

Multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $1,549.72 Wednesday.

The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket sold, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Wednesday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 3-8.

Favored R Angel Katelyn Ekes Out Win in Liza Jane Handicap

R Angel Katelyn ($2.40) had to work harder to win Wednesday’s $50,000 Liza Jane handicap than might be expected of a 1-5 favorite. Nevertheless, the multiple-stakes winner managed to eke out victory by a half-length in the 6 ½-furlong overnight handicap for 3-year-old fillies.

Owned by Acclaimed Racing, CCF Racing Stable and K Lauren Racing, R Angel Katelyn pressed pacesetter Faith N Hope along the backstretch and around the far turn before taking the lead on the turn into the homestretch. The daughter of High Cotton was kept to a drive by jockey Edgard Zayas throughout the stretch run as Faith N Hope hung tough under Gerardo Corrales. Brahms Cat finished 2 ½ lengths farther back in third.

R Angel Katelyn, who ran 6 ½ furlongs in 1:17.52 while carrying high weight of 123 pounds over a sloppy track, collected her fourth stakes win and sixth overall victory in nine starts.
