ARLINGTON: RIVELLI LANDS 500th ARLINGTON VICTORY
By Brian Spencer —-
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill (June 23, 2017) – Arlington International Racecourse’s four-time leading trainer Larry Rivelli hit a new milestone when Patricia’s Hope LLC’s Do Not Enter gave “Riv” his 500th win at the Chicagoland oval in Friday’s second race.
Since saddling his first winner in 2000, Rivelli’s operation has grown steadily through the years, culminating in successive training titles at Arlington over the past three years. From a family of horsemen, Rivelli began working for his uncle, trainer Jimmy DiVito, after college. He trained his first graded stakes winner in 2008 with Strait of Mewsina in the Grade III Hawthorne Derby. Rivelli earned his first Arlington training title in 2011 with 39 wins and finished the 2016 season on top with 58 wins, including a score in the Grade III Arlington-Washington Futurity with Wellabled.
“This is my home track, hometown, and all my owners are from here in Illinois,” Rivelli said following the win. “I love it. I wouldn’t want to do it anywhere else.”
