Preakness: “Just” trying to make some Money

The 143rd Preakness Stakes on May 19 at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Md., will only have a field of eight 3-year-old colts, with four of them returning from the Kentucky Derby.

Justify, the Derby winner, will top the field and break from post seven at odds of 1-2. Second-place finisher Good Magic will break from post five at odds of 3-1.

Here’s a quick look at the field for the mile-and-three-sixteenth race and then I will give you my betting angle.

Quip (1) (Distorted Humor) won the Arkansas Derby and then skipped the Kentucky
Derby. Odds 12-1

Lone Sailor (2) (Majestic Warrior) was eighth in the Kentucky Derby. 15-1

Sporting Chance (3) (Tiznow) was last seen finishing up the track at Churchill Downs. 30-1

Diamond King (4) (Quality Road) won Federico Tesio Stakes at Laurel Park. 30-1

Good Magic (5) (Curlin) was second in the Kentucky Derby. 3-1

Tenfold (6) (Curlin) is trained by Steven Asmussen. 20-1

Justify (7) (Scat Daddy) won the Kentucky Derby and looking to stay unbeaten in five starts. 1-2

Bravazo (8) (Awesome Again) was sixth in the Kentucky Derby and like I’ve said before it’s not a Triple Crown race unless D. Wayne Lukas has a horse in it and that also goes for Sporting Chance.

I would play a trifecta and superfecta and here’s how I would do it. It’s pretty simple.
