35 PRE-ENTERED IN GRADE I ARLINGTON MILLION XXXVI, BEVERLY D. AND SECRETARIAT STAKES
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (Aug. 3, 2018) – Pre-entries for the three Grade I stakes highlighting the International Festival of Racing on Saturday, Aug. 11 were taken Friday at Arlington International Racecourse. The Grade I $1,000,000 Arlington Million, Grade I $600,000 Beverly D. and Grade I $400,000 Secretariat Stakes drew early interest from 35 contenders. The Arlington Million and Beverly D. are “Win and You’re In” events for the Grade I $4,000,000 Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf and the Grade I $2,000,000 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf at Churchill Downs on Nov. 3. NBC Sports Network will broadcast live from the Chicagoland oval on Saturday, Aug. 11 beginning at 5:00 pm CDT.
The International Festival of Racing on Aug. 11 will also be complemented by the $100,000 Grade III Pucker Up Stakes for 3-year-old fillies going 1 1/8 miles on the turf and the $100,000 Bruce D. Memorial Stakes for 3-year-olds going one mile on the main track. Named one of Chicago’s top 100 events in 2017, Arlington’s International Festival of Racing promises excitement and entertainment with a free concert by Grammy-nominated country music recording artist and songwriter Eric Paslay, and the return of award-winning singer Jim Cornelison to deliver the National Anthem alongside the Presentation of Colors by Marine Air Control Group 48.
Final entries for the Grade I events will take place at 11:00 am on Tuesday, Aug. 7 at the Arlington International Racecourse racing office. The remainder of Saturday’s card will be drawn on Wednesday, Aug. 8.
