Friday’s Rainbow 6 Carryover Jackpot Rises to $80,000

Gemologister Breaks through with Maiden Score in 34th Try

MIAMI GARDENS, FL – The 20-cent Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot rose to $80,009.93 for Friday’s program at Gulfstream Park West when the popular multi-race wager went unsolved Thursday for the ninth consecutive program.
Multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $1,933.18.
The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
The Rainbow 6 has gone unsolved since being hit for the third time in five racing days Oct. 12 for a $23,222.88 jackpot payoff.

Gemologister Breaks through with Maiden Score in 34th Try
Gemologister ($11.20) had come close to breaking his maiden on a few occasions in his first 33 career races but was unable to break into the win column until Thursday at Gulfstream Park West.
Returning fresh from a five-month layoff, the 4-year-old son of Gemologist would not be denied a long-overdue victory in Thursday’s fourth race, a six-furlong maiden special weight race run over the main track, setting the pace and fighting off a stretch-long challenge by heavily favored Sir Senescal to earn his diploma.
Trained by Jaime Mejia, who has been enjoying a successful meeting at Gulfstream Park West, Gemologister won by a half-length in 1:12.36 under Raul Mena.
Gemologister, who had finished second or third 10 times, was twice stakes-placed in 25 turf starts and finished third four times in six dirt starts.
