LAUREL, MD – Five players from across North America were each rewarded with $29,027.90 for hitting Friday’s Stronach 5, the national Pick 5 with an industry-low 12-percent takeout.
Friday’s Stronach 5 started at Laurel with a $12.40 winner in Hail the Queen and ended at Golden Gate Fields with a 6-5 favorite in Shadrack. The highest price in the sequence occurred in the second leg with Park Ridge Benny returning $2040 at Gulfstream Park.
Friday’s Stronach 5 sequence
● Leg One – Laurel Park 9th Race – Hail the Queen $12.40
● Leg Two – Gulfstream Park 9th Race – Park Ridge Benny $20.40
● Leg Three – Santa Anita Park 4th Race – Drift Away $14.60
● Leg Four – Gulfstream Park 10th Race – Tracy Ann’s Legacy $8.20
● Leg Five – Golden Gate Park 5th Race – Shadrack $4.60
The Stronach 5 continues to show a good return on investment. Four bettors each cashed for $29,068.30 on Dec. 28 while 37
players each won $2,916.90 on Dec. 21.
The minimum wager on the multi-race, multi-track Stronach 5 is $1. If there are no tickets with five winners, the entire pool will be carried over to the next Friday.
For the Stronach 5, if a change in racing surface is made after the wagering closes, each selection on any ticket will be considered a winning selection. If a betting interest is scratched, that selection will be substituted with the favorite in the win pool when wagering closes.
The Maryland Jockey Club serves as host of the Stronach 5.
