HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The 20-cent Rainbow 6 went unsolved for the 20th consecutive racing day at Gulfstream Park Sunday, growing the carryover jackpot to $1,265,195.58 for Wednesday’s program.

A total of $433,269 was bet into the popular multi-race wager, which began with a carryover of $1,042,638.19 from Saturday’s card. Multiple tickets with all six winners Sunday were each worth $3,748.50.

The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Since the 2018-19 Championship Meet kicked off Dec. 1, the Rainbow 6 has been hit five times, most recently for a $188,900.81 payout Jan. 9.

There will also be a Super Hi 5 carryover of $3,202.42 Wednesday.

A mandatory payout of the Rainbow 6 pool is scheduled for next Saturday’s program, even if it is solved in the meantime. The entire pool, including a carryover jackpot, will be paid out to those holding tickets.

Phipps Stable’s Cover Model, a half-sister to Grade 1-stakes winner Imagining, graduated impressively at Gulfstream Park in Sunday’s seventh race, a mile turf race for older fillies and mares.

The 4-year-old daughter of War Front, who had finished fourth in her first three starts in New York, pressed or set the pace throughout the race before drawing off to a 3 ½-length victory under Hall of Famer John Velazquez.

“I ran her three time last fall and her races were good, but she was starting to sort of whittle down on me so I said let’s just turn her out for a while. We turned her out at Fair Hill and brought her down here, hadn’t done a whole lot with her but obviously she doesn’t need a whole lot,” trainer Shug McGaughey said. “She kind of grew up a lot and I think hopefully she’ll have a future in front of her. She’s got a wonderful pedigree. I think she’s still got some stuff to learn but hopefully she will.”

Cover Model ran the mile over a firm turn course in 1:36.21.

Who’s Hot: Irad Ortiz Jr., fresh of a two graded stakes-winning Saturday, won twice Sunday aboard Ortiga ($5.40) in Race 1 and Hogans Holiday ($10.40) in Race 6. Both horses are trained by Marcus Vitali.

Leading rider Luis Saez also notched a double aboard A Thread of Blue ($6.20) in the $100,000 Dania Beach in Race 9 and Regal Romance ($6.80) in Race 4.
