Seventh and Ninth Races to be Part of Stronach 5

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Just Ain’t Right will have the opportunity in Friday’s $75,000 Liza Jane at Gulfstream Park to prove his new owners were right in purchasing the daughter of Yes It’s True after her most recent start.

Just Ain’t Right, who won two of three career starts for seven-time Eclipse Award-winning trainer Todd Pletcher, was purchased for $150,000 at the Keeneland April sale for horses of racing age by Carrie Brogden, Robert Slack and Dennis Smith and turned over to trainer Rohan Crichton.

The Liza Jane will headline a program that will kick off the Friday twilight racing season. First-race post time is set for 2:15 p.m.

The 6 ½-furlong sprint for 3-year-old fillies also serves as a prep for the $75,000 Azalea, a seven-furlong sprint for sophomore fillies on the June 29 Summit of Speed program that will feature the $250,000 Princess Rooney (G2), a ‘Win and You’re In’ stakes for the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1) at Santa Anita Nov. 2, and the $250,000 Smile Sprint (G3).

“We were planning for the Azalea and this race popped up,” Crichton said. “She came to us after the sale in really good shape and does everything right. I think she’s going to run good.”

Crichton saddled Trenchtown Cat, a 3-year-old daughter of Discreet Cat, for a dominating triumph in last Saturday’s Ana T. Stakes, which will serve as a prep for either the Azalea for the seven-furlong Princess Rooney.

Just Ain’t Right won her first two career starts during the Championship Meet – both her Dec. 13 debut and Jan. 16 optional claiming allowance victories were achieved after stalking the pace. The Kentucky-bred filly, who was purchased by her previous connections for $250,000 at the 2018 Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream 2-year-olds-in-training sale, made her most recent start on turf, finishing third in the five-furlong Melody of Colors Stakes Feb 23.

Albin Jimenez is scheduled to ride Just Ain’t Right for the first time Friday.

Just Ain’t Right will take on a pair of rather imposing stakes winners Friday in John Oxley’s Capture Your Dream and e Five Racing Thoroughbreds’ Lovesick.

Trained by Mark Casse, Capture Your Dream also won her first two career starts at Gulfstream, scoring by 10 ¼ lengths in her debut last May that caught the eye of Oxley, who privately purchased the daughter of Uncaptured who went on to win the $100,000 Desert Vixen Division of the 2018 FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes in her next start. Luca Panici, who was aboard for her maiden victory, has been named to ride Capture Your Dream, who hasn’t run since finishing off the board in the $200,000 FSS Susan’s Girl Sept. 1.

The David Fawkes-trained Lovesick, like Just Ain’t Right and Capture Your Dream, won her first two career starts before tasting defeat in her third start. The daughter of Adios Charlie won her debut last August at Gulfstream before returning to action three-months later to win the Juvenile Fillies Sprint for Florida-breds at Gulfstream Park West. Edgard Zayas has the mount aboard Lovesick, who has been out of action since finishing third in the Dec. 15 Sandpiper at Tampa Bay Downs.

Also entered in the Liza Jane are Jessica, Calinas Song, Paula Andrea and Cory Gal.

Gulfstream’s seventh and ninth races will also be part of the Stronach 5, a national pick 5 that will also feature races from Golden Gate Fields, Laurel Park and Santa Anita Park. There will be a $100,000 guaranteed pool and industry-low 12-percent takeout.
