DABO RETURNS TO ARLINGTON IN SPRINGFIELD STAKES

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (July 26, 2019) –
West Point Thoroughbreds Dabo will make his return to Arlington International Racecourse on Saturday where he will take on a field of five others in the Springfield Stakes, which will be run at one mile on the synthetic main track.
Dabo, who is two for two at Arlington, is coming off a mediocre finish in an allowance race at Churchill Downs last time out, which was run at 1 1/16th miles on the turf. The race could be excused, however, as Dabo has never shown a liking for the turf. He now returns to the synthetic where his most recent start on the surface was in the GIII Marine Stakes at Woodbine in May where he finished third.
The Dale Romans trainee will be looking for his first win going the flat mile, and would also become his first stakes win if Dabo were to best the field of five others on Saturday. He will be ridden by leading rider Jose Valdivia Jr. and will break from post 1.
Another Mystery, who was just seen in the GIII American Derby two weeks ago, will also be looking for his first career stakes triumph. Owned by Team Block, and trained by Chris Block, Another Mystery is two for two over the Arlington synthetic and scored an impressive open company allowance win in June as the odds on favorite over the surface. After that win, trainer Chris Block had the confidence to spot him in the GIII American Derby where he finished eighth, but only beaten five lengths what was a very competitive field.
Another Mystery will be making his sixth career start. The son of Temple City will be ridden by Jose Lopez and will break from post 3.
Rounding out the field is D’fever (Julio Felix, post 2), Colonel Klink (Mitchell Murrill, post 4), D’Yank (Joseph Berrios, post 5), and Tak (Edgar Perez, post 6)
The Springfield Stakes has an expected post time of 3:46 PM CDT, and is the fifth race of the Saturday nine card at Arlington.
