TAP BACK HEADS 11 KING GLORIOUS STAKES NOMINEES;
BEEN STUDYING HER AMONG 15 FILLIES FOR SOVIET PROBLEM

CYPRESS, Calif. —Tap Back, who dominated 10 rivals in the Golden State Juvenile Nov. 1, is among 11 nominees to the $100,000 King Glorious Stakes while double stakes winner Been Studying Her tops the 15 2-year-old fillies nominated to the $100,000 Soviet Problem.

Both races are at one mile and restricted to horses bred or sired in California. The King Glorious will be run Sunday, Dec. 15, the final day of the Winter meet, while the Soviet Problem will be offered Saturday, Dec. 14.

Owned by co-breeder Richard Barton and trained by Jeff Bonde, Tap Back won the Golden State Juvenile by six lengths at 14-1, the second victory in four starts for the son of Einstein and the Tapit mare Tap Tap Ur It. He’s earned $163,100.
Trainer Doug O’Neill, who won the King Glorious in both 2015 (Found Money) and 2016 (Ann Arbor Eddie), has a pair of nominees – I Will Not and Rookie Mistake. Both are owned by breeder J. Paul Reddam’s Reddam Racing LLC.

A son of Square Eddie, I Will Not is 1-for-4 with a bankroll of $38,262 while Rookie Mistake, another Square Eddie colt, is a thrice-defeated maiden coming off a runner-up finish at Del Mar Dec. 1. He’s earned $18,551.

The other nominees, in alphabetical order, are Club Aspen, Dapper, Govenor Cinch, If Id Told You, Papster, Pas de Panique, Side Street Dave and Totally Tiger.

Owned by KMN Racing LLC and trained by Hall of Famer Jerry Hollendorfer, who won the 2016 Soviet Problem with Sircat Sally, Been Studying Her was an easy winner of the Golden State Juvenile Fillies as the 3-2 choice Nov. 1.

The daughter of Fast Anna and the Kitten’s Joy mare Maddie’s Odyssey is undefeated in non-graded races. Her other stakes win came in the Generous Portion Aug. 28.

Fourth in the Grade I Chandelier taken by eventual Starlet winner Bast, Been Studying Her has earned $205,280.

The remaining nominees, in alphabetical order, are Almost a Factor, Bella Renella, Bulletproof One, California Kook, Cholula Lips, Jodie Faster, Nocherylikemychery, Phoenix Tears, Say Yes Sally, Slew’s Screen Star, Smiling Shirlee, Sofi’s Gold, Warren’s Showtime and Warrior’s Moon.

Entries for the Soviet Problem will be taken Wednesday, Dec. 11, one day prior to the King Glorious.
