Friday’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Guaranteed at $400,000
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool will be guaranteed at $400,000 Friday at Gulfstream Park.
The popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the third racing day in a row following Saturday’s mandatory payout. Multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $1,033.46 Thursday.
The jackpot pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
Thursday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 5-10, including a well-stocked maiden special weight race for 4-year-olds and up in Race 6. Perennial Championship Meet training titlist Todd Pletcher is scheduled to saddle a pair of starters, including Nocturnal, who has been idle since finishing second behind stablemate Dr Post in his debut March 29 at Gulfstream. Dr. Post went on to win the Unbridled Stakes at Gulfstream before finishing second in the Belmont Stakes (G1) and third in the Haskell (G1) at Monmouth. Pletcher is also slated to saddle Bold Agenda, a son of Candy Ride who was bought at auction for $700,000, for his debut in the mile race. Chad Brown-trained Brazillionaire, a son of Candy Ride that cost $875,000 at auction, is set for his second start and first race with blinkers after a late-fade sixth in his debut at Churchill.
WHO’S HOT: Two-time defending Championship Meet titlist Irad Ortiz Jr. rode two winners Thursday, scoring with back-to-back winners Hero Tiger ($4.20) in Race 6 and Don’t Get Khozy ($4.20) in Race 7.
Paco Lopez doubled aboard First Investor ($28.40) in Race 1 and Monte Ne ($6.40) in Race 4. Tyler Gaffalione also made a pair of visits to the winner’s circle after scoring aboard Elliereeseaston ($4.60) in Race 5 and Tropicat ($18) in Race 8.
