The Florida Derby, Jeff Ruby Steaks and the UAE Derby highlighted March 27. Known Agenda won the Florida Derby and I have no problem adding him to this list. Like the King who won the Jeff Ruby and Rebel’s Romance who won the UAE Derby are another matter.
Godolphin, which owns both Essential Quality and Rebel’s Romance, has committed the UAE Derby winner to run in the 147th renewal of the Kentucky Derby.
Like the King won on the Tapeta surface at Turfway Park and since this is the first year the track had that surface, I don’t know how well that win will play on dirt.
Concert Tour is going back to Oaklawn for the Arkansas Derby on April 10 in Hot Springs.
Essential Quality is now headed to the Blue Grass according to trainer Brad Cox and he can run into Highly Motivated and Rombauer. Both are talented colts.
Known Agenda had his running shoes on to take the Florida Derby.
Hot Rod Charlie invaded Fair Grounds from California and walked off with Louisiana Derby crown.
Greatest Honour ran a lackluster third in the Florida Derby. His speed figures hadn’t been that good prior to the race and maybe that finish is his limit.
Midnight Bourbon ran a very game second in the Louisiana Derby.
Medina Spirit looks like he’s headed to the Santa Anita Derby.
Helium won the Tampa Bay Derby and I can add him to the list now that his owners will pay the late fee to get into the Derby. Same goes for Weyburn who won the Gotham in New York.
Soup and Sandwich ran a game second in the Florida Derby.
Triple Tap will stay here until he runs in a points’ race.
