WELL-TRAVELED MYFAVORITEDAUGHTER SETTLES
IN FOR DARLEY ALCIBIADES RUN
Chris Britton’s Myfavoritedaughter has been a true coast-to-coast runner in her brief career.
Trained by Jeff Engler, Myfavoritedaughter made her first three starts at Gulfstream Park within sniffing distance of the Atlantic and then traveled to Del Mar within sight of the Pacific, where she finished fourth in the TVG Del Mar Debutante (G1) on Sept. 5.
With no ocean in sight, Myfavoritedaughter arrived at Keeneland Saturday from Churchill Downs, where she was stabled following the trip to Del Mar. Her target in Lexington is Friday’s $400,000 Darley Alcibiades (G1), a “Win and You’re In” race going 1 1/16 miles for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) to be run at Del Mar on Nov. 5. The race will be run opening day of Keeneland’s 17-day Fall Meet.
“She’s ready; I think she will run big,” Engler said after watching Myfavoritedaughter gallop over the main track Sunday morning. “She has had two works at Churchill (since the Del Mar race) and her last breeze (a :47.40 half-mile) was exceptional.”
Myfavoritedaughter has won once, recording a 25-length blowout triumph over a sloppy track at Gulfstream. Following that victory, Engler shipped her and a few other horses to Del Mar.
“It was a good learning experience,” Engler said of his first visit to Del Mar.
In the Debutante, Myfavoritedaughter rallied from last in the 7-furlong race and missed the show spot by a half-length.
“She was very wide in the stretch and on the gallop-out, she passed the second- and third-place finishers,” said Engler, who maintains a 25-horse string at Palm Meadows training center in South Florida. “The further the better for her.
“We’ve been waiting to go two turns with her. She is probably the fittest horse I have had in my career.”
Corey Lanerie, who was aboard Myfavoritedaughter for her Sept. 16 work at Churchill Downs, will have the mount in the Darley Alcibiades.
A graduate of Keeneland’s 2020 September Yearling Sale, Myfavoritedaughter is by 2015 Toyota Blue Grass (G1) winner Carpe Diem.
