Thursday’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Guaranteed at $300,000
Thursday’s Late Pick-5 Carryover – $40,334
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool will be guaranteed at $300,000 Thursday at Gulfstream Park, where there will also be a $40,334.85 carryover for the 50-cent Late Pick 5.
The Rainbow 6 has gone unsolved for 12 consecutive racing days following a $461,035.47 jackpot payoff Oct. 9.
Thursday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 3-8, while the Late Pick 5 sequence will span races 4-8, featuring four highly competitive races on the Tapeta course.
Mark Casse-trained All Quality, who went 2-for-2 on all-weather surfaces in his recent Gulfstream debut, cuts back in distance in Race 4, a five-furlong optional claiming allowance on Tapeta for fillies and mares. David Fawkes-trained Palomita, who won her recent Tapeta debut at the five-furlong distance, and Victor Barboza Jr.-trained Reinagol, who gets a little class relief after chasing five-furlong-turf monster Choose Joy in recent starts, are also prominent names in Race 4.
Casse-trained Men On the Hill is scheduled to make his U.S. debut in Race 5, a mile-and-70-yard maiden special weight race. Casse sent out Mannix for a U.S. debut victory in a maiden special weight race for juveniles on Tapeta at Gulfstream last Sunday. Men On the Hill finished 1 ¾ lengths behind the winner of his only European start following a horrific trip. The winner of that race, Atomic Jones, went on the win the KPMG Champions Juvenile (G2) at Leopardstown. D J Stables LLC, which owns the gelded son of Starspangledbanner, has also entered Jinxed, an Irish-bred son of Caravaggio who is scheduled to make his career debut.
Jorge Delgado-trained She Nasty, who won her third race in four career starts while winning her Tapeta debut last time out, is among eight 2-year-old fillies entered in Race 7, a mile-and-70-yard optional claiming allowance on the all-weather surface. Ruben Gracida-trained Brittiz, who finished third behind heavily favored Lemieux in the Brethren Juvenile Fillies in her Tapeta debut last time out, returns to action Friday.
Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. has entered two horses in Race 8, a mile-and-70-yard race on Tapeta for $35,000 maiden claimers that attracted nine 2-year-olds. Granny Makes Sense, who was a forward factor into the stretch run of his recent maiden special weight debut, and Millennium Condo, a son of Overanalyze who is scheduled to make his career debut, will represent Gulfstream’s leading trainer.
