Mandatory Payout on Sunday, Pool Could Reach $3 Million
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL –The 20-cent Rainbow 6 pool Saturday at Gulfstream Park is estimated to be $450,000.
The Rainbow 6 includes the $165,000 Mucho Macho Man, the first race in the Florida Derby series for 3-year-olds, and the $165,000 Ginger Brew, a mile turf event for 3-year-old fillies. The Mucho Macho Man drew a field of nine including 5-2 favorite Guns Loaded, Resolute Racing’s undefeated Septarian, and AMO Racing USA’s Cool Intentions.
If there is no unique winner in Saturday’s Rainbow 6, the pool for Sunday’s mandatory payout is estimated to be approximately $3 million.
Saturday’s Rainbow 6 begins with Race 6, a 10-horse maiden special weight event at a mile on the turf for 3-year-olds and Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez will be on the morning-line favorite in After Taxes. Trained by Wesley Ward, the gelding was fourth in his debut over the turf at Saratoga in July and second last time out Nov. 15 at Aqueduct. Both races were sprinting on the turf. Aqueous is a $950,000 son of Omaha Beach going out for Riley Mott while Chad Brown saddles On the Mount, a $300,000 son of Thousand Words also making his debut.
Race 8 is another maiden special weight event, this one at 6 ½ furlongs for Florida-breds. Just Relax, third but beaten 15 lengths around two turns in the In Reality division of the FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes, is 2-1.
The Rainbow 6 concludes with Race 11 and the Ginger Brew. A Dozen 3-year-old fillies have entered with Nitrogen the 5-2 morning-line choice. The daughter of Medaglia d’Oro, still a maiden, was third in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) and Natalma (G1). Mark Casse trains. Godolphin’s Civetta was a beaten a neck in the Matron (G3) at Aqueduct before winning the Wait a While here Nov. 28.
The Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
