Mandatory Rainbow 6 Yields Multiple $25,509 Payouts

Royal Palm Meet Resumes with Nine Live Races Thursday

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool yielded multiple payoffs of $25,509.84 Sunday at Gulfstream Park.

The popular multi-race wager had gone unsolved for 11 consecutive racing days since a mandatory payout of $6,047.50 April 13.

St. George Stable’s homebred Rashid ($16.60) captured Sunday’s Race 9 finale to complete the winning 8-2-5-6-8-10 combination. A total of $1,854,210 was wagered into the Rainbow 6 on top of a $244,230.38 carryover from Saturday’s program.

Other winners in the sequence were Alas Doradas ($15.60) in Race 4, Hot Blooded ($4.40) in Race 5, Mr Scatter ($35.40) in Race 6, Burnaway ($3.20) in Race 7 and Warda ($25.80) in Race 8.

In the Rainbow 6, the jackpot pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

However, on mandatory payout days the entire Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is paid out to the bettor or bettors with the most winners in the six-race sequence.

The Rainbow 6 begins anew when live racing resumes Thursday starting at 12:50 p.m. The sequence spans Races 4-9 and is highlighted by a starter optional claimer for 3-year-olds scheduled at 1 1/16 miles on the grass in Race 8. Among the field are Emmett, second to Saturday’s English Channel winner Tank in the March 30 Sophomore Turf at Tampa Bay Downs, and last-out winners Bolt to Run, Giftedbydesign and Chill the J.

Notes: Jockey Edgar Perez rode two winners Sunday, Frosty Shop ($9.80) in Race 1 and Warda ($25.80) in Race 8.
