STAKES WINNERS FREEDOM’S NOT FREE, ARTISLAS HEADLINE SUNDAY’S CINEMA STAKES FOR 3-YEAR-OLDS GOING ONE MILE ON TURF AT SANTA ANITA

ARCADIA, CA (May 6, 2025)—Freedom’s Not Free, recent winner of the Pasadena Stakes at a mile on turf, and Grade III winner Artislas headline Sunday’s $100,000 Cinema Stakes for 3-year-olds going a mile on turf at Santa Anita.

In the Pasadena on March 9 at Santa Anita, Freedom’s Not Free pressed the pace and kicked clear in the stretch to earn a comfortable two-length win as the 1-2 favorite. Trained by Mark Glatt, Freedom’s Not Free previously made his stakes debut in the Baffle Stakes sprinting on the hillside turf course and finished third behind well-regarded winner Scipio.

By Omaha Beach, Freedom’s Not Free is 5: 2-0-2 with $118,080 in earnings for owners Blinkers On Racing Stable, Tom Corbett, Jay Wagner and partners. He will have Antonio Fresu aboard.

Artislas last year won the GIII Zuma Beach at Del Mar and Eddie Logan at Santa Anita, both at a mile on turf. Trained by Jeff Mullins, Artislas made his 3-year-old debut April 6 in the John Shear Memorial at about 6 ½ furlongs on the hillside turf course. The Catalina Cruiser colt settled in mid-pack before making a late bid to finish third, beaten just a half-length by winner Supersonic Blue.

Artislas is 6: 3-0-2 with $189,500 in earnings for owners Dutch Girl Holdings LLC, Irving Ventures LLC, William Meathe and Jeanne Tumanjan. He will have regular rider Reylu Gutierrez in the irons.

Game Warrior, trained by Peter Miller, finished ahead of Freedom’s Not Free when second in the Baffle sprinting down the hill. He was subsequently shipped to Turfway Park and stretched out to 1 1/16 miles in the Rushaway Stakes on synthetic where he finished fourth.

By Game Winner, Game Warrior has a record of 8: 1-1-1 with $85,755 in earnings for owner Jethorse LLC. He will be ridden by Umberto Rispoli, who was also aboard in the Rushaway.
