TSV Staff Selections —-

SANTA ANITA

RACE 5) 1ˆ Mile. San Felipe S. Grade II. Purse $400,000 FOR
THREE-YEAR-OLDS. Post Time: 5:04/ 4:04/ 3:04/( 2:04

Term of Art 1), has struggled in each of his two 2017 starts; beat decisively two back by Gormley.

Vending Machine 2), two-time Santa Anita winner will need turn up the speed to compete for the win; hot connections.

Ann Arbor Eddie 3), second offering from the O’Neill barn has hit the board in all five career starts; a winner at this route two back; can contend for a share.

Mastery 4), multiple Graded Stakes winner dominated in the G1 Los Al Futurity in his last start; Baffert just re-loads.

Gormley 5), G1 Frontrunner winner opened his 2017 campaign with a game score in the Grade 3 Sham; should be an exciting stretch-duel with Mastery.

Iliad 6), Ghostzapper ridgling cleared a small G2 San Vicente bunch last out, his second straight win; should be forwardly placed.

Bluegrass Envy 7), maiden has yet to post a speed figure to threaten these.

Selections: 4, 5, 6, 2

RACE 8), 7 Furlongs. Triple Bend S. Grade I. Purse $400,000 FOR
FOUR-YEAR-OLDS AND UPWARD. Post Time: 6:38/ 5:38/ 4:38/( 3:38)

Denman’s Call 1), has gotten away slowly in each of his last two, and it’s cost him; a bullet in prep for this, but these aren’t OC’s.

Point Piper 2), is winless here and at the distance.

Kobe’s Back 3), makes 2017 debut; is a solid player at this level and today gets the services of one of the best in Javier Castellano.

Silent Bird 4), goes for six straight wins; exits a game victory over a muddy go; class-test, but can’t ignore.

Masochistic 5), 7-year-old also makes his first start of the year following his DQ in the B.C. Sprint. is a four-time winner here and a perfect 3-for-3 at today’s route.

Nowalking 6), a scary play here; finished in the money on six of seven Santa Anita starts and has shown a solid late kick that could work should a speed duel break-out with the two chalks.

Conquest Cobra 7), 5-year-old gets a major class-test but has posted strong efforts at the distance; exotics possibility.

Selections: 5, 3, 4, 2

RACE 9), 1 Mile. (Turf) Frank E. Kilroe Mile S. KILROE MILE S.. Grade I. Purse
$400,000 FOR FOUR-YEAR-OLDS AND UPWARD. Post Time: 7:11/ 6:11/ 5:11/( 4:11)

Bal a Bali 1), on the shelf since last June; Castellano gets the call but 7-year-old maybe hearing the final call to post.

Flamboyant 2), exits a nice show effort in the G2 San Marcos, and with today’s distance cutback could find himself in the exotics picture.

Bolo 3), turned the tables on a couple of these in the Arcadia last out, a contest run at today’s distance; look for a repeat effort today.

Dortmund 4), makes turf debut and in the Sherman barn, two angles that would work on a main track; the turf experiment ends.

Ring Weekend 5), 2015’s winner finished a nose back for third in the G2 Arcadia; feel this Tapit gelding wants longer but once again is a win threat on back class alone.

Conquest Enforcer 6), in a blanket finish, colt was caught late and finished third in the Arcadia; always forwardly placed, they’ll have to catch him again.

What a View 7), last year’s winner was part of that Arcadia stampede finishing second a head back; 6-year-old owns five wins over the Santa Anita lawn.

Selections: 3, 6, 7, 5
