Thursday’s Rainbow 6 Carryover Jackpot Swells to $550,211
Super Claim Queen Del Valle Rolls to 8th Win in 9 Starts
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The Rainbow 6 went unsolved Wednesday or the 14th consecutive program, producing a $550,211.63 carryover jackpot for Thursday’s program.
Multiple tickets with all six winners Wednesday were each worth $535.28.
The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
The popular multi-race wager was last solved Feb. 23, when a unique ticket was worth a $324,179.78 jackpot payoff.
Super Claim Queen Del Valle Rolls to 8th Win in 9 Starts
Queen Del Valle rolled to her eighth win in nine starts since being claimed for $25,000, capturing Thursday’s ninth race at Gulfstream by a length.
The 3-year-old daughter of Baryshnikov, who was claimed by trainer Reid Nagle’s Big Lick Farm out of her debut at Gulfstream June 24, won the optional claiming event at a mile on turf under Edgard Zayas, who is undefeated in seven mounts aboard the Kentucky-bred filly.
“I liked her breeding and she was running short and on the dirt. I thought she was meant to run long and on turf,” Nagle said. “I take chances. I end up with a lot of heavy baggage that doesn’t move very fast, but she is fabulous.”
After finishing third at six furlongs on dirt in her debut, Queen Del Valle graduated in her first start for her new connections and her first start on turf, scoring by 6 ¾ lengths in a five-furlong maiden race for $35,000 claimers. The Kentucky-bred filly went on to win four straight optional claiming events at Gulfstream and Gulfstream Park West before tasting defeat for the first time on turf at Tampa Bay Downs Dec. 16. She was beaten by a half length in a fourth-place finish while facing males in a mile optional claiming race. She rebounded to win her next start at Tampa before returning to Gulfstream Park to score a two-length victory in a 7 ½-furlong overnight stakes race Feb. 20.
“She trains at our training center, Oak Ridge Training Center outside Ocala, and after she trains every day she goes out in her paddock with a miniature pony,” Nagle said. “When the sun’s out, you see her spread out lying down in the paddock. That’s how she spends her days. She’s very relaxed; she’s very chill.”
Sent to post as the 9-5 favorite, Queen Del Valle stalked the pace into the stretch before asserting herself in the stretch to run the mile over a firm turf course in 1:36.09.
Nagle said Queen Del Valle, who has earned more than $140,000 in her nine starts since being claimed, will be given a scheduled break with no set return to action.
Who’s Hot: Jockey Paco Lopez doubled with victories aboard Dancing Wind ($8.20) in the second race and City Section ($3.60) in the sixth.
