ELMONT, N.Y. – I Still Miss You will look to stay undefeated and notch her second straight stakes win as part of a field of five New York-bred juvenile fillies in the fourth running of the $100,000 Lynbrook on Sunday at Belmont Park.
The Lynbrook, the final stakes of the Belmont spring/summer meet, will feature I Still Miss You’s first race since winning the Astoria on June 8 on Big Sandy. Owned by Gold Star Racing Stable, Matthew Hand and Brian McKenzie, the daughter of Majestic Warrior is 2-for-2 in her career for trainer Jeremiah Englehart and will be running at six furlongs for the first time.
I Still Miss You broke her maiden against state-breds at Belmont by 3 1/2 lengths on May 11 before winning her stakes debut four weeks later by 2 ¼ lengths. Jockey Javier Castellano will have the call from post 4.
Missbigtimes, a fellow Englehart trainee, was third in her first career start on June 22. Jose Ortiz will ride from post 1.
Twin Creeks Racing Stables’ Pure Silver won her first race, a front-running victory on June 22 in which she posted a 1 ½-length score in a 5 ½-furlong sprint. The Mission Impazible filly had been training at Palm Beach Downs before shipping to New York.
Following her win, trainer Todd Pletcher said Pure Silver has been working well at Belmont, breezing four furlongs in 48.88 seconds on Sunday on the training track.
“It’s been straightforward what she’s been showing us in the morning,” Pletcher said. “She has good gate speed. She’s a pretty straightforward type of filly.”
Hall of Famer John Velazquez, who piloted her to her first win, will again be in the irons from post 2.
Pletcher’s other entrant, One Last Call, also won her debut, besting a six-horse field at 4 ½ furlongs on April 19 at Aqueduct Racetrack. She moved up to open company in the Astoria, finishing sixth. Luis Saez will have the mount for the first time, drawing post 3.
Northernstreetgal will have a fast turnaround after a fifth-place finish in her debut on July 1 at Belmont. The daughter of Here Comes Ben, trained by Gary Contessa, had been training at Saratoga Race Course before arriving at Belmont. Irad Ortiz, Jr. will pick up the mount and break from the outside post.
