Del Mar Racing —-

Joe L. Turner’s Sircat Sally, undefeated in seven races, will place her perfect record on the line Sunday when she heads a field eight three-year-fillies in the Grade II $200,000 San Clemente Handicap at Del Mar.

Sircat Sally, a daughter of Surf Cat bred in California by her owner, broke her maiden in her career debut last fall at Del Mar and has gone to win six consecutive stakes races, most recently capturing the Honeymoon Stakes in game fashion, by a neck over Beau Recall, in mid-June at Santa Anita.

Drayden Van Dyke has the call from trainer Jerry Hollendorfer on Sircat Sally, who figures to go to the gate a solid favorite despite packing highweight of 125 in the one- mile grass event.

Assembling to try to spoil Sircat Sally’s record are Noted and Quoted, 121 pounds and Martin Garcia; Storm the Hill, 118 and Kent Desormeaux; Lull, 120 and Brian Hernandez, Jr.; Enthrall, 118 and Rafael Bejarano; Kenda, 119, and Tyler Baze; Spy Ring, 117 and Victor Espinoza, and Blame It On Alphie, 118, and Flavien Prat.

Supporting feature on the nine-race program will be the $75,000-added Wickerr Stakes, also at a mile on the grass, for older Thoroughbreds. The conditioned stakes drew a competitive band of seven runners, namely, Street Lad, Perfectly Majestic, Prime Attraction, Dalmore, Calculator, Blackjackcat and Vyjack. The last-named is the likely favorite.

Post time for the first race Sunday will be 2 p.m.
