Rainbow 6 Jackpot Hit Thursday for $436,076 Payoff
Sweet Khaleesi in Sharp Form for Added Elegance Handicap
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot was hit for a $436,076.38 payoff Thursday at Gulfstream Park.
The popular multi-race wager went unsolved for 15 consecutive programs before the only ticket with the winning combination of 1-2-1-7-5-7 broke the jackpot. The winning ticket, played at an off-track betting facility in Lewiston, Maine, was one of a large number of 20-cent tickets played by a single bettor.
The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket sold, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
Five horses were eligible in the 10th race to take down the jackpot, including the No. 2 Little John W., No. 3 Rizwan, No. 4 Forall the Marbles, No. 7 Parmel Landing and No. 9 Zipi Zape. Parmel Landing ($10) rallied from off the pace to prevail in the final leg of the Rainbow 6 to round out the winning combination.
The Rainbow 6 will start anew on Friday’s 2:15 p.m. twilight program. The six-race sequence will span Races 4-9.
Sweet Khaleesi in Sharp Form for Added Elegance Handicap
Much improved Sweet Khaleesi will seek to build on a sharp optional claiming allowance win in Saturday’s $50,000 Added Elegance Handicap at Gulfstream Park. Arindel Farm’s homebred filly is set to face seven rivals in the seven-furlong sprint for fillies and mares won last year by Curlin’s Approval, who went on to win this year’s Royal Delta (G2) and the Princess Rooney (G2).
The 4-year-old daughter of Maimonides will be making her third start since being transferred to trainer Stanley Gold. She returned from a five month layoff June 16 to finish second in a $30,000 claiming race before scoring a dominating 4 ¾-length triumph over favored R Girls a Charmer July 16.
“She’s training good. She was impressive in her last start, so we’re taking a shot,” Gold said. “I’m really happy with her training.”
Edgard Zayas has the return mount.
Trainer Jonathan Thomas, who has saddled four winners with as many starters during Gulfstream’s Summer Meet, is scheduled to saddle Catsadiva for the first time for a start in the Added Elegance. The 4-year-old daughter of Tale of the Cat, who is owned by Lawana and Robert Low, made her last start for trainer Todd Pletcher in the Christmas Past stakes at Gulfstream May 27. Making her first start on grass, Catsadiva opened up a 13-length lead on the backstretch before faltering to finish seventh, beaten by 2 ½ lengths. The Kentucky-bred filly, who has won three of seven starts on dirt, is scheduled to be ridden by Luca Panici.
R Kinsley Doll, a three-time stakes winner on Gulfstream’s main track, is also entered to return to dirt after a failed turf debut. The 4-year-old daughter of Big Drama, who showed speed before finishing far back in the Treasure Coast July 15, previous won the Queen Mother and finished second in the Musical Romance. Owned by Averill Racing and Silver Oak Stable, R Kinsley Doll won a pair of Florida Sire Stakes events for 3-year-old fillies last year. Emisael Jaramillo has the mount on the 123-pound high weight.
More Than a Party, Cult Classic, Money Or Love, Dad’s Princess and Fergielicious round out the field.
