Who:
Irad Ortiz began his riding career at Hipodromo Camarero in Puerto Rico with a collected success that has carried over to the American racing circuit, since arriving on the scene in 2011. He was Saratoga’s leading rider for Grade 1 wins in 2012 with three—the Coaching Club American Oaks and Alabama Stakes with Questing, and the Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap with Poseidon’s Warrior. Ortiz won his first Breeder Cups’ race on Lady Eli in the 2014 Filly and Mare, followed by two Breeders’ Cup victories in 2015, aboard Stephanie’s Kitten in the Filly and Mare Turf, and Lady Shipman in the Turf Sprint. Ortiz won back-to-back NYRA riding titles in 2014 and 2015 with 278 and 280 wins, respectively; including Saratoga en route his 2015 title.

Graham Motion trained under Hall of Fame trainer Jonathan Sheppard prior to striking out on his own in 1993. Since that time, he has recorded countless major feats, including multiple Breeders’ Cup wins—2004 Turf with long shot Better Talk Now, 2010 Filly and Mare Turf with underdog Shared Account, and 2014 Turf with Main Sequence, who was 4-for-4 in Grade 1 races that year en route to multiple Eclipse Award honors. Motion has trained numerous notable horses, including Aruna, Shared Interest, Film Maker, and 2011 American Champion Three-Year-Old Male Horse Animal Kingdom. Animal Kingdom is best known as the 2011 Kentucky Derby and 2013 Dubai World Cup Champion. In 2016, Motion trained Miss Temple City to three Grade 1 wins.

Robertino Diodoro has been training thoroughbreds across North America for over 20 years. His passion for horses led him from Alberta to Arizona, with several stops along the way. A third generation horseman, Diodoro took over his grandfather Jim Dorman’s stable in 1995. In the first 10 years of his career, Diodoro Racing accumulated more than $1.7M in earnings, two training titles and 195 wins. Since, he has been training at Turf Paradise, continually rising in the ranks each year. The spring of 2014 ended with a record 128 wins in the season, blitzing the previous mark by 24 victories. A banner year perpetuated in the summer at Canterbury Park, Minnesota, where the winners’ circle greeted six horses on closing day en route to the trainer championship. Nationally, Diodoro was ranked 4th by wins and 20th by earnings in 2016. This is the first year that he has been a regular on the NYRA circuit where he enjoyed a strong Belmont Spring/Summer meet. Diodoro will be making his first appearance on At The Post Live.
