OVERFLOW FIELD POSSIBLE FOR $1 MILLION SHADWELL TURF MILE

Fall Stars Weekend on Oct. 6-8, the first three days of Keeneland’s Fall Meet, is the signature event of the season. Fall Stars Weekend features nine graded stakes worth $3.75 million. Five of those races are Grade 1 events, including the $1 million Shadwell Turf Mile (G1). Eight Fall Stars stakes are “Win and You’re In” contests for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Del Mar on Nov. 3-4.
Fields are beginning to take shape for Fall Stars Weekend with the Shadwell Turf Mile, likely to draw an overflow field.

Keeneland Stakes Coordinator Allison DeLuca has 16 horses considered as probable or possible for the race, a “Win and You’re In” for the Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) to be run Nov. 4. The maximum number of starters for the Shadwell Turf Mile, to be run Saturday, Oct. 7, is 14.

Among the probables are Grade 1 winners American Patriot, winner of Keeneland’s Maker’s 46 Mile (G1) in April, trained by Todd Pletcher; Divisidero, trained by Buff Bradley; Mondialiste (IRE), trained by David O’Meara; and South American Group 1 winner Le Ken (ARG), trained by Ignacio Correas IV.
Other probables are Applicator (Mikhail Yanakov), Arod (IRE) (David Simcock), Ballagh Rocks (Bill Mott), Blackjackcat (Mark Glatt), Christian C (Wayne Catalano), Dimension (GB) (Conor Murphy), Flatlined (Scooter Dickey), Heart to Heart (Brian Lynch), Offering Plan (Chad Brown), Suedois (FR) (O’Meara), Time Test (GB) (Brown) and Tyler U (Troy Wismer).

Entries for the Shadwell Turf Mile will be taken Wednesday.

FALL STARS WEEKEND PROBABLE FIELDS

The following is a list of probable starters for Fall Stars Weekend stakes compiled by Keeneland Stakes Coordinator Allison DeLuca.

$400,000 DARLEY ALCIBIADES (G1) (Entries taken Tuesday; race Friday, Oct. 6) – Bet She Wins (Chris Block), Caroline the Great (Tracey Glover), Heavenly Love (Mark Casse), Kelly’s Humor (Brad Cox), Over Thinking (Vicki Oliver), Pacific Gale (John Kimmel). Possible: Amy’s Challenge (Mac Robertson), Maya Malibu (Graham Motion), Princess Warrior (Kenny McPeek), Sassy Sienna (Cox) and Sunny Skies (McPeek).

$250,000 STOLL KEENON OGDEN PHOENIX (G2) (Entries taken Tuesday; race Friday, Oct. 6) — Aquamarine (D. Wayne Lukas), Awesome Banner (Kenneth Decker), It’s the Journey (Michael Trombetta), Limousine Liberal (Ben Colebrook), Loose On the Town (Brian Lynch), Richard the Great (Stanley Gold), Seventh Sense (TUR) (Murat Sancal), Threefiveindia (Chad Brown) and Whitmore (Ron Moquett).

$500,000 CLAIBORNE BREEDERS’ FUTURITY (G1) (Entries taken Wednesday; race Saturday, Oct. 7) – Bourbon Resolution (Ian Wilkes), Bravazo (D. $250,000 THOROUGHBRED CLUB OF AMERICA (G2) (Entries taken Wednesday; race Saturday, Oct. 7) – Bendable (Richard Mandella), Finley’sluckycharm (Bret Calhoun), I’m a Looker (Brad Cox), Ivy Bell (William Denzik Jr.) and Vertical Oak (Steve Asmussen). Possible: True Romance (Tim Hills).

$200,000 WOODFORD PRESENTED BY KEENELAND SELECT (G2) (Entries taken Wednesday; race Saturday, Oct. 7) – Big Rock (Christophe Clement), Commend (Bill Mott), Hogy (Mike Maker), Indy Hill (D. Wayne Lukas) and Mongolian Saturday (Enebish Ganbat).

$500,000 JUDDMONTE SPINSTER (G1) (Entries taken Thursday Oct. 5; race Sunday, Oct. 8) – Blue Prize (ARG), (Ignacio Correas IV), Martini Glass (Keith Nations), Mo d’Amour (Rodolphe Brisset), Romantic Vision (Rusty Arnold) and Tiger Moth (Brad Cox).

G. Watts Humphrey Jr.’s multiple stakes winner Morticia worked four furlongs in :48.40 in company over a fast track Thursday morning. Trained by Rusty Arnold, Morticia is being pointed to the $100,000 Buffalo Trace Franklin County (G3) on Oct. 13 going 5½ furlongs on the turf.
