CYPRESS, Calif. —Ismelucky, a stakes winner at Los Alamitos during the Los Angeles County Fair meet, and Golden State Juvenile Fillies winner One Fast Broad are among 13 2-year-old fillies nominated to the $100,000 Soviet Problem Stakes.

Restricted to horses bred or sired in California, the one-mile Soviet Problem will be run for the sixth time Saturday, Dec. 2, the third day of the Winter meet at Los Alamitos.

Owned by Jerome Russell and trainer Jeff Bonde, Ismelucky, a daughter of Lucky Pulpit and the Tribal Rule mare Ismene, overcame a rough trip to capture the Barretts Debutante as the favorite in her Los Alamitos debut Sept. 16.

A $50,000 purchase at the Barretts October 2016 sale, Ismelucky has won two of four and earned $120,420.

Owned by trainer Mick Ruis’ Ruis Racing LLC, One Fast Broad rallied from last to win the Golden State Juvenile Nov. 3 at Del Mar.

The victory was the second in four attempts for the daughter of Decarchy. Out of the Mr. Broad Blade mare Awesome Broad, One Fast Broad has banked $172,000.

Other nominees include Generous Portion Stakes winner Spiced Perfection, the Phil D’Amato trained duo of Carpathia and Carrie’s Success, Pulpit Rider, Our Bold Princess, Lovely Finish, Neon Gypsy, X S Gold, Twisted Rosie, who is also trained by Bonde, and the Gary Sherlock trained pair of Empress of Lov and My Claw.

Opening day of the Winter meet is Thursday, Nov. 30. Entries for the Soviet Problem will be taken Wednesday, Nov. 29.
