Holding off a determined run by Sir Anthony, favored Pass the Gravy scored in Saturday’s Jim Edgar Futurity at Hawthorne Race Course. Owned by Richard Ravin, V-Leaf Stables Inc. and Larry Rivelli, and trained by Larry Rivelli.

The Jim Edgar Futurity, for Illinois Conceived and/or Foaled two-year-olds bred in the state of Illinois , was contested on Hawthorne ‘s dirt track at the distance of a mile and a sixteenth.

Rider Rodney Prescott got the return call aboard Pass the Gravy. The pair had teamed up to win the local Sun Power in the talented colt’s previous start. Pass the Gravy has now won three of four career starts.

Sir Anthony, however, refused to go away and kept pace with the eventual winner, coming within a neck when they finally crossed the wire. It was another four and a quarter lengths back to Ghaaleb’s Winner.
