NEW ORLEANS (March 15, 2018) –

WHAT: Post position draw for the 105th running of the Grade II $1 million Louisiana Derby presented by Twinspires.com
WHEN: Saturday, March 17 at 11 a.m. CDT
WHERE: Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots paddock (weather permitting) or Star Guitar Bar (adjacent to paddock), also broadcast Facebook Live (to view, like the official Fair Grounds page)

The event is open to the public. For members of the media, the connections of several of the Louisiana Derby horses, Fair Grounds management, track announcer John G. Dooley and racing analyst Joe Kristufek will be available for interviews at the conclusion of draw.

The 105th running of the $1 million Louisiana Derby presented by Twinspires.com (Grade 2) will be run as part of an expanded live racing program at the Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots on Saturday, March 24. It is a 100-40-20-10 points race on the road to the Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve, and the sister race for the fillies, the Gr. II $400,000 Twinspires.com Fair Grounds Oaks will award the same number of points for the Longines Kentucky Oaks. In excess of $2.5 million total stakes purses will be offered on Louisiana Derby Day, and a $200,000 guaranteed All Stakes Pick Four is one of the highlighted wagers on the card.
