Desert Duchess (3), Maker/Ortiz, J; stepped way up in class in the Grade 1 American Oaks and it showed; prior to that effort filly had won 3-straight; fits here.

Splash Hit (4), Calhoun/Saez; is a 3-time winner on dirt; makes turf debut for barn that’s 13 percent with firsts on turf.

Mom’s On Strike (5), Sharp/Beshizza; has won 4-straight, 3 coming here; see no reason why she won’t once again be charging late.

Five Hearts (6), Stidham/Bravo; makes second start in Stidham barn; dead-heated for third in Stall; solid work tab.

Charged (7), Stidham/Murrill; blinkers come off, a strong 28 percent training angle; nevertheless, maybe a bit light for this group.

Mannerly (8), Walsh/Castellano; filly out of Unbridled’s Song has won 2-of-3 turf attempts; makes first start of the year and with tough rider Castellano.

Sully’s Dream (9), Ortiz/Stevens; finished here in December facing similar; jockey switch to Hall of Famer Stevens a plus.

8) Grand Luwegee never off the board in five starts, including two over the turf here.

11) Pound for Pound, his win two back in the La. Futurity produced the field’s highest speed figure, a track bias that’s been playing all meet; gets Geroux.
