Saratoga Day 5: Grade II Honorable Miss Handicap
By Rick Francis —-
Day 5 of the 2018 Saratoga race meet continues the stakes action as a veteran group of fillies and mares take to what maybe a sloppy go in the running of the Grade 2 Honorable Miss Handicap.
Your most accomplished in the “off” go is the Steve Asmussen trained filly out of the late Giant Oak, (1) Vertical Oak, who owns three wins and a third from four starts, with Ricardo Santana in the irons.
Conditioner Wes Ward sends out 5-year-old (3) Kirby’s Penny, who has won or placed in her last seven starts, three coming over less than fast conditions.
Both however will have to contend with Grade 1 Madison winner (6) Finley’sluckycharm, who looks to rebound from a faltering fourth last out in the Humana Distaff, and with the slight cutback, should.
