Special Wednesday Program Set for 1:15 p.m. First Post

Wednesday’s Rainbow 6 Carryover Jackpot Grows to $73,061
Little Chesney Rallies for Victory in Sunday’s Jupiter Beach

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Gulfstream Park will host a five-day racing week this week with the addition of a special Wednesday program. First-race post time is set for 1:15 p.m.

There will be a Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot of $73,061.52 Wednesday, when the six-race sequence will span Races 4-9.

The Rainbow 6 went unsolved for the fifth straight racing day Sunday, when multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $6,615.34.

The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

The popular multi-race wager was solved three times within six racing days this month for jackpots of $734.403 (Aug. 3), $44,678 (Aug. 9) and $60,708 (Aug. 11).

Little Chesney Rallies for Victory in Sunday’s Jupiter Beach

Little Chesney ($18.60) rallied late to capture Sunday’s $75,000 Jupiter Beach at Gulfstream Park.

Trained by Carlo Vaccarezza for Michael Pietrangelo and Nicholas Vaccarezza, the 4-year-old gelded son of City Zip ran five furlongs on a firm turf in 56.21 seconds to register a 1 ¾-length victory in the stakes for horses that hadn’t won a sweepstakes in 2018.

After an alert start, Little Chesney saved ground under Samy Camacho while settling behind a swift early pace set by Go Gone Gone and pressed by Starship Wildcat through fractions of 21.34 and 44.04.
Starship Wildcat, the 2-1 favorite ridden by Edgard Zayas, took over the lead at the top of the stretch but was no match for Little Chesney, who surged between horses to win going away. Starship Wildcat held second, a half-length ahead of Diddley, the 5-2 second choice who rallied though traffic to salvage third place under Emisael Jaramillo.

Little Chesney notched his first stakes victory and fourth win in 10 career starts in the Jupiter Beach.
