Thursday’s Rainbow 6 Carryover Jackpot Grows to $82,177

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The 20-cent Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot at Gulfstream Park grew to $82,177 for Thursday’s twilight program (2 p.m. first-race post time) when the popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the sixth straight racing day Wednesday.

Multiple tickets with five of six winners were each worth $894.86.

The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

The popular multi-race wager was solved three times within six racing days this month for jackpots of $734.403 (Aug. 3), $44,678 (Aug. 9) and $60,708 (Aug. 11).

Note: Hall of Fame jockey Jacinto Vasquez saddled Mortal Storm for a fourth-place finish in Wednesday’s sixth race. The 74-year-old Vasquez, who has ridden 5,228 winners during his career, saddled 19 winners from 127 starters from 1998-2004.

Mortal Storm was his first starter since Formal Fire finished 8th at Calder Sept. 11, 2004 His last winner as a trainer came at Gulfstream with Fumar April 13, 2002.

Jockey Emisael Jaramillo won four races on Wednesday’s nine-race card. He capped off his wins in the final race of the day with Cloudy Day ($6.80).
