Juvenile state-bred fillies compete in Joseph A. Gimma on Wednesday

ELMONT, N.Y. – Trainer Jeremiah Englehart will saddle three contenders looking to win their first respective races at Belmont Park in the $150,000 Joseph A. Gimma for New York bred 2-year-old fillies on Wednesday.

Carded as Race 8 with an approximate post time of 5:18 pm., the 25th running of the Joseph A. Gimma will be shown on Belmont Park Live, airing on MSG+ from 4-6 p.m.

Party Like Grandma will look to stay perfect to start her career. The Desert Party filly is 2-for-2, including an impressive gate-to-wire victory in the 6 ½-furlong Seeking the Ante on August 24 at Saratoga Race Course. Before winning her stakes debut, Party Like Grandma also posted a front-running victory in her first start, wiring a four-horse field on July 12 at Finger Lakes.
Party Like Grandma, who Englehart co-owns with Flower City Racing and Christopher Meyer, will look to handle the Joseph A. Gimma distance of seven furlongs as she races on Big Sandy for the first time.

Jockey Andre Worrie, aboard for her first two wins, will have the return call from post 5.

Repole Stable’s Ma Meatloaf is the field’s most experienced entrant, breaking her maiden at third asking on June 28 at Finger Lakes on a sloppy and sealed track before rallying for second, three-quarters of a length behind Sassy Agnes, in her first stakes appearance in the Lady Finger on a fast track on the same course September 8.
Joe Bravo will pick up the mount and depart from post 6.

Roddy Valente’s Cartwheelin Lulu will take a step up in class after winning her debut by four lengths on August 16 at Finger Lakes. The daughter of Bustin Stones, who won at 5 ½ furlongs, will stretch out in distance, drawing post 7 with Hall of Famer John Velazquez in the irons.

Wise Racing’s More Mischief is coming off a maiden-breaking effort when she posted a 2 ¾-length score on August 29 at the Spa, helping trainer Chad Brown set a meet record with 46 wins. The dark bay Into Mischief filly was purchased for $350,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Florida sale earlier this year and will make her first start at Belmont, drawing post 1 with Jose Ortiz aboard.

Maiden Beauty tracked close to Party Like Grandma in the Seeking the Ante, staying just off her speed before finishing just 1 ¼ lengths back for second in her first stakes appearance. The Gary Contessa trainee won her debut on July 15 at Belmont, capturing the Lynbrook against state breds at six furlongs, rallying from sixth to win by 3 ¼ lengths on a sloppy track.
Joel Rosario, who rode in her first two starts, will again have the mount from post 2.
Elegant Zip, who broke her maiden last out on August 15 at Saratoga, will make her first stakes appearance, drawing post 4 with Manny Franco set to ride for trainer David Donk.
She’s Trouble, third in the Seeking the Ante and fourth in the Lynbrook, drew post 3 for trainer Linda Rice. Irad Ortiz, Jr. will have the call.
