BUGGIN OUT SEEKS FIFTH CONSECUTIVE MAGIC CITY CLASSIC

NEW ORLEANS (December 3, 2018) – Dennis Murphy’s Buggin Out will attempt to win the $50,000 Magic City Classic Stakes for a fifth straight year in the Friday featured event for Alabama-breds on the main track.

Trained by Ronnie Ward, the 7-year-old son of Indy has won every edition of the one mile event for Thoroughbreds born in The Yellowhammer State since 2014. His most recent effort was took place on October 28 at Delta Downs where he was seventh in an allowance optional claiming event going seven furlongs. This was his first start since taking last year’s edition of the Magic City Classic Stakes, which he won by 5¼ lengths over stable mate Branchwater (post three, 4-1, Colby Hernandez). Buggin Out has won three other times aside from his quartet of Magic City Classic wins. These took place when breaking his maiden sixth time out at Delta Downs by 1¼ lengths in October 2014 as well as two allowance optional claiming wins in 2015 at Louisiana Downs and Delta Downs. In 25 career starts, Buggin Out has acquired a total of $190,750 in career earnings. Jockey Corey Lanerie will be aboard Buggin Out, who breaks from post eight as the 9-5 morning line favorite.

Completing the field for the event are Out Late (post one, 8-1, Manuel Chavez), Gotta A.P.B. (post two, 15-1, Miguel Mena), Babalight (post four, 8-1, Mitchell Murrill), Menewa (post five, 9-2, Jose Valdivia, Jr.), Noisy Ripples (post six, 15-1, James Graham), Two Mikes N Doc G (post seven, 20-1, Ty Kennedy), and Indy’s Code (post nine, 8-1, Ricardo Santana, Jr.).
