Keeneland’s January Horses of All Ages Sale Opens Monday
LEXINGTON, KY (Jan. 3, 2019) – Keeneland’s 2019 January Horses of All Ages Sale, which has cataloged 1,574 horses, including champion Abel Tasman and Grade 1 winner and recent supplement Fatale Bere (FR), starts Monday at 10 a.m. ET.
The sale, which runs through Thursday, Jan. 10, will be streamed live on Keeneland.com. TVG coverage of the auction will begin Sunday and continue the following two days with live coverage on TVG2.
On Monday, Abel Tasman will sell as Hip 288 and Fatale Bere is Hip 397K.
One of the top distaffers of her generation, Abel Tasman captured six Grade 1 races at 2, 3 and 4 and earned nearly $2.8 million. She was named champion 3-year-old filly of 2017. Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, is consigning the 4-year-old daughter of Quality Road for co-owners China Horse Club and Clearsky Farms.
Fatale Bere, winner of the 2018 Del Mar Oaks Presented by The Jockey Club (G1), is consigned by ELiTE.
With Fatale Bere among the 20 supplemental entries in the catalog, the January Sale has 709 broodmares and broodmare prospects, 601 yearlings, 258 horses of racing age and six stallions.

Broodmares cataloged to the January Sale are in foal to 151 new and established stallions, while yearlings in the catalog represent 152 stallions

Among the sires of yearlings are Air Force Blue, American Pharoah, Anchor Down, Brody’s Cause, Cairo Prince, California Chrome, Candy Ride (ARG), Distorted Humor, Empire Maker, Exaggerator, Flatter, Frosted, Ghostzapper, Honor Code, Into Mischief, Kantharos, Kitten’s Joy, Lea, Liam’s Map, Malibu Moon, Medaglia d’Oro, More Than Ready, Mshawish, Nyquist, Quality Road, Runhappy, Speightster, Speightstown, Tiznow, Tourist, Uncle Mo, Union Rags, Upstart, Violence, War Front and Will Take Charge.
Prominent 2018 graded stakes winners sold as yearlings at the January Sale include Grade 1 winner Catholic Boy (Belmont Derby Invitational and Travers) and Mind Your Biscuits (Dubai Golden Shaheen and Lukas Classic-G2); Grade 2 winners Catapult (Del Mar Mile and Eddie Read; second in Breeders’ Cup Mile-G1) and Ms Locust Point (Barbara Fritchie); and Grade 3 winners Code Warrior (Hendrie and Seaway), Flameaway (Sam F. Davis), Limation (Super Derby), Mucho Gusto (Bob Hope) and Toinette (Autumn Miss and Edgewood).
