Rainbow 6 Carryover Jackpot Stands at $15,247
The 20-cent Rainbow 6 went unsolved at Gulfstream Park Thursday, one day after the popular multi-race wager was hit for a $188,900.81 jackpot payoff.
The popular multi-race wager will offer a carryover jackpot of $15,247.44 Friday. Tickets with all six winners Thursday were each worth $7,114.04.
After going unsolved for the first 12 programs of the 2018-2019 Championship Meet, there have been five jackpots paid out. The popular multi-race wager was solved Dec. 19 for a $580,349.19 jackpot, Dec. 27 for $288,350.74, Dec. 30 for $177,31798 and Jan. 4 for $166,317 prior to Wednesday’s jackpot hit.
The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
Who’s Hot: Brothers Irad Ortiz Jr. and Jose Ortiz, finalists for the 2018 Eclipse Award for outstanding jockey, were frequent visitors to the Gulfstream winner’s circle Thursday. Irad scored aboard Uncle B. ($4.80) in Race 1 and Stronger Kat ($3.20) in Race 3. Jose was victorious aboard I’llmakeyousmile ($12) in Race 6 and Miss Munnings ($25) in Race 8.
Paco Lopez won back-to-back aboard He’s Smokin Hot ($6) in Race 9 and Expected Ruler ($8) in Race 10.
Note: The memory of Mickie Polio will be honored with a winner’s circle tribute following Race 4 on Friday’s program at Gulfstream Park.
The popular concession employee, who had been a mainstay at Gulfstream for 53 years until late last year, passed away last week.
