THREE GRADE I, HALF MILLION DOLLAR STAKES HEAD 35 TOTAL ADDED MONEY OFFERINGS AS SANTA ANITA’S 2019 SPRING STAKES SCHEDULE RUNS FROM APRIL 13 THROUGH JUNE 23

ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 10, 2019)—Santa Anita’s 2019 Spring Stakes Schedule, which runs from Saturday, April 13 through Sunday, June 23, will offer fans and horsemen a total of 35 added money events, headlined by three Grade I, half million dollar stakes, all on May 27—the Gold Cup at Santa Anita, the Gamely and the Shoemaker Mile (turf).

In all, Santa Anita will distribute $5.1 million in added purse money over the course of its 42-day Spring run. Including the aforementioned Grade I stakes, Santa Anita will run a total of 21 graded events during the Spring Meet, which will include a comprehensive offering of added money races for horses in all categories.
With Santa Anita’s Winter Meet, which runs through Sunday, April 7, operating on a Thursday through Sunday schedule, the Spring Meet will operate on the same model, excepting the two weeks following the Grade I, $1 million Santa Anita Derby April 6, when the track will operate on a three-day week, beginning Friday, April 12. The other exception will be a five-day race week, which includes Memorial Day, Monday, May 27.
