Sunday’s Rainbow 6 Carryover Jackpot Tops $1.88 Million
Ceevee Seeks Third in a Row in Ocala Stakes
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL –The 20-cent Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot for Sunday’s program at Gulfstream Park climbed to $1,887,346.46 Saturday when the popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the 38th consecutive racing day Friday.
Multiple tickets with six winners were each worth $4,902.42 Saturday.
The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
A total of $437,964 was wagered into the Rainbow 6 Saturday, when wagering on the six-race sequence started with a carryover of $1,782,266 from Friday’s program.
Sunday’s Rainbow 6 sequence, which will span Races 6-11, will feature the $75,000 Big Red Stakes in Race 10. Owner/trainer Happy Alter’s Ceevee is set to make his stakes debut on dirt in the mile stakes for 3-year-olds and up. The 4-year-old son of Tiznow won an off-the-turn allowance May 16 in his first start since being claimed for $50,000 out of a winning performance on turf. Leading jockey Edgard Zayas has the return mount on the 5-2 morning-line favorite.
Mr. Jordan, a veteran stakes performer with more than $840,000 in earnings, and Just Kidding, a most impressive winner of a May 10 optional claiming allowance, also figure to be serious contenders.
