Fast Pass Romps in Possible Prep for Korea Sprint
Rainbow 6 Carryover Jackpot at $370,742 for Thursday’s Card
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Paradise Farms Corp. and Walder Racing’s Fast Pass, third in the Smile Sprint (G3) last time out, romped to a six-length victory in Race 1 on Wednesday’s program at Gulfstream Park. The starter optional claiming allowance could well prove to be a prep for the Korea Sprint (G3) on the Korea Cup (G3) program at Seoul Racecourse Sept. 8
Fast Pass, who was favored at 1-5 in the seven-furlong sprint, has won three of his last four starts, including the May 26 Opening Lead Stakes at Gulfstream.
“They reached out to me after he won the Opening Lead,” said Walder, who spoke with Seungho Ruy, the general manager of the International Department of Korean Racing Association, in New York to discuss the possibility of Fast Pass taking the trans-Pacific journey.
Walder said that eight horses from Korea will compete in the six-furlong sprint, while eight international horses will be chosen. Nominations to the Korea Sprint are due Aug. 9.
Rainbow 6 Carryover Jackpot at $370,742 for Thursday’s Card
The Rainbow 6 went unsolved for the 14th consecutive racing day at Gulfstream Park Wednesday, producing a carryover jackpot of $370,742.50 for Thursday’s program.
Multiple tickets with all six winners Wednesday were each worth $164.86.
The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
The Rainbow 6 was last solved July 6, when one lucky bettor hit for a $173,583.90 jackpot payoff.
