HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The Rainbow 6 went unsolved for the 15th consecutive racing day at Gulfstream Park Thursday, producing a carryover jackpot of $386,770.22 for Friday’s 2:15 p.m. twilight program.
Multiple tickets with all six winners Thursday were each worth $7,479.48.
The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
The Rainbow 6 was last solved July 6, when one lucky bettor hit for a $173,583.90 jackpot payoff.
Friday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 4-9.
Race 8 and Race 9 will be included as the third and fifth legs, respectively in Friday’s Stronach 5. The first two legs will be Laurel Park’s Race 8 and Race 9, while Laurel’s Race 10 will be the fourth leg.

Breeder Bett Usher: “It’s Horse Racing. You Never Know.”
Taste of the Track Saturday Features Wine and Cheese
Sire Stakes Odds and Saturday’s Program
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Bett Usher laughs and says, “You know, I’m supposed to be retired. Then I ran into Miss Mary.”
Miss Mary is Mary Lightner, manager of the racing syndicate Shooting Star Thoroughbreds, owners of favored Chance It in Saturday’s $100,000 Dr. Fager Division of the FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes.
Lightner gifted Usher Vagabon Diva, the mare who produced Chance It. After Usher bred the mare to Currency Swap – and after the mare produced a first-out winner at Churchill Downs via disqualification for Lightner in Trenton Traveler – Lightner purchased the Currency Swap baby from Usher.
That Currency Swap baby, Chance It, has produced the second-fastest Beyer Speed Figure (92) of any 2-year-old in the country this year and is the morning-line 3-5 favorite in the Dr, Fager.
“I’m blessed, and I’m thrilled for Mary and happy for [trainer] Saffie [Joseph Jr.],” Usher said. “I bred to Currency Swap because I really liked him, but I had no idea he’d be the fastest 2-year-old. I have to pinch myself. But its horse racing. You never know.”
Usher, who grew up in the Midwest and worked with quarter horses, worked at a number of Thoroughbred farms but “it was the broodmare barn where I found my passion.” She bred a couple mares in the early 2000s before meeting Lightner and being gifted Vagabon Diva, who raced only four times with her lone victory coming against claiming company at Turfway Park. By Pleasantly Perfect, Vagabon Diva is out of Clear Distinction, bred and owned by Overbrook Farm and also a winner of one of four starts.
Usher, who is looking forward to Saturday’s Dr. Fager, has had several calls from potential buyers for Vagabon Diva, who is in foal to Bucchero.
“People are interested in the mare and the baby in her belly,” Usher said. “But I think she’s going to be with me forever along with my donkey Moses.”
