HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The 20-cent Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot grew to $1,131,926.50for Saturday’s card at Gulfstream Park when the popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the 35th consecutive racing day Friday.

Multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $12,857.40.

The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

The Rainbow 6 was last solved July 6, when one lucky bettor hit for a $173,583.90 jackpot payoff.

Saturday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 7-12, including the $60,000 In The Breeze Stakes in Race 10 and the $100,000 Sheer Drama in Race 11.

There will also be a Super Hi-5 carryover of $2,645.68 heading into Saturday’s card.

Ms Meshak Takes on Stormy Embrace in Saturday’s Sheer Drama

Northwind Thoroughbreds LLC’s Ms Meshak will seek to make it back-to-back stakes victories at Gulfstream Park Saturday when the Joe Orseno-trained filly takes on multiple Grade 2 winner Stormy Embrace in the $100,000 Sheer Drama.

The Sheer Drama, a seven-furlong sprint for Florida-bred fillies and mares, will be supported on Saturday’s 12:45 p.m. card by the $60,000 Copingaway, a 1 3/16-mile turf stakes for 3-year-olds and up, and the $60,000 In The Breeze, a 1 1/16-mile turf stakes for fillies and mares.

Ms Meshak captured the seven-furlong Added Elegance by 2 ½ lengths over heavily favored Razorback Lady last time out.
The 4-year-old daughter has won four of her last five starts at Gulfstream, including a victory in a five-furlong optional claiming allowance in her turf debut April 11. Her only losses in her last seven starts came in the Hurricane Bertie (G3) over a sloppy track during the 2018-19 Championship Meet at Gulfstream and a races over the Churchill Downs turf course that followed her successful turf debut.

Rated at 6-1 in the morning line, Ms Meshak will be ridden by Jairo Rendon.

Matalona Thoroughbreds’ Stormy Embrace is an imposing foe, having been rated as the 1-2 morning-line favorite. The Kathleen O’Connell-trained 5-year-old daughter of Circular Quay is slated to make her first start since successfully defending her title in the $250,000 Princess Rooney (G2) on the June 29 Summit of Speed card at Gulfstream.

Stormy Embrace, who will be ridden by Wilmer Garcia, earned a berth in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (G1) at Santa Anita Nov. 2 by scoring by two lengths in the ‘Win and You’re In’ Princess Rooney at the seven-furlong distance.

Orseno will also be well represented in the Copingaway by Salute the Colonel, who has been installed as the 2-5 favorite in the morning line for the Race 6 stakes. Patricia Generazio’s homebred gelding will be seeking his third straight stakes victory under Jairo Rendon.

Orseno, who won’t be on hand to saddle either Ms Meshak or Salute the Colonel, is slated to saddle Imprimis for the $700,000 Kentucky Downs Turf Sprint (G3) Saturday. Imprimis, who is undefeated in four starts over the Gulfstream turf, hasn’t run since finishing sixth in the June 18th King’s Stand (G1) at Royal Ascot.

Orseno-trained Cash Call Kitten ($6) extended his undefeated record on Gulfstream’s turf course to 5-for-5 in Friday’s Race 7. The 4-year-old son of Kitten’s Joy, who started his career in 2018 with a victories in a $20,000 maiden claiming race and the Sage of Monticello starter stakes, won his second start since being claimed out of a win in a $16,000 claiming race July 12.

Gulfstream Stakes Winners Fast Pass, Harvey Wallbanger Set for Korea Stakes

Gulfstream-based trainer Peter Walder will be a half a world away Saturday. Walder is scheduled to saddle Fast Pass for a start in Sunday’s Korea Sprint at Seoul Racecourse. Fast Pass has won three of his last four starts – a third in the Smile Sprint (G3) on the Summit of Speed card being the loss.

Kenny McPeek-trained Harvey Wallbanger, who captured the Fasig-Tipton Holy Bull (G2) at Gulfstream last February, will start in the Korea Cup on a card that will be televised by TVG during the wee hours Sunday morning.

Driven By Thunder Steals Away to Victory in Friday’s James H. Kyle

Super Super Stable’s Driven by Thunder stole away to an easy early lead on his way to a comfortable victory in Friday’s $60,000 James H Kyle Stakes at Gulfstream Park.

The Amador Sanchez-trained gelding ($11) took the lead on the first turn under Hector Berrios during a 25.92-second first quarter of a mile and was never threatened thereafter to give both trainer and rider their second stakes victories in the U.S. Sanchez and Berrios, who were both prominent in Chile before venturing the Gulfstream Park, previously teamed for a victory with Graceful Kitten in the $100,000 Proud Man Stakes at Gulfstream Aug. 31.

Galleon Mast, a multiple-stakes winner who was sent to post in the 1 1/16-mile turf stakes as the 9-5 favorite, trailed the field into the stretch and closed well to finish second, 1 ½ lengths behind the winner, who completed the distance in 1:43.15 on fresh legs.
