BLOWOUT (GB) HEADLINES OVERFLOW FIELD
FOR FRIDAY’S PIN OAK VALLEY VIEW

Peter Brant’s Blowout (GB), who spent most of the summer chasing stablemate Regal Glory in graded stakes tests at Saratoga, headlines a field of 14 3-year-old fillies and one also-eligible entered Sunday for next Friday’s 29th running of the $150,000 Pin Oak Valley View (G3) to be run at 1 1/16 miles on the turf.

The Pin Oak Valley View will go as the ninth race on Friday’s 10-race program with a 5:30 p.m. ET post time. First post Friday is 1:05 p.m.

Trained by Chad Brown, Blowout finished a half-length behind Regal Glory in the Lake George (G3) and a neck back in the Lake Placid (G2) before posting a front-running 2¼-length victory in the Pebbles on Sept. 14 in her most recent start.
John Velazquez has the mount and will break from post position two.

Brown, who has won two Grade 1 stakes at this meet, has two other runners in the race: stakes winners Catch a Bid, owned by Klaravich Stables and Martin Schwartz’s Turf War. Irad Ortiz Jr. has the mount on Catch a Bid and will break from post position seven, while Turf War exits post position 10 with Joel Rosario aboard.

CAMBIER PARC FOLLOWS WINNING PATTERN FOR BROWN
IN QUEEN ELIZABETH II CHALLENGE CUP PRESENTED BY LANE’S END

Trainer Chad Brown picked up his third victory in the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Presented by Lane’s End (G1) on Saturday when OXO Equine’s Cambier Parc led all the way to a 1-length victory.

“There was not a lot of pace yesterday and Johnny (Velazquez) took advantage of it,” said Whit Beckman, who is overseeing Brown’s Keeneland string. “The same thing happened last year when Rushing Fall won and when Dayatthespa won (in 2012): The fractions were soft and she led all the way.”

Brown also saddled Peter Brant’s Café Americano to a fourth-place finish while Paul Pompa Jr’s Regal Glory finished sixth.

“He was pleased with their performances,” Beckman said. “They all came out of the race well and it is my understanding they will all get a break.”

Godolphin’s Castle Lady (IRE), who finished a clear second in her first start since June, came out of the race well. according to exercise rider Luc Chasserio. Castle Lady is scheduled to return to France and rejoin trainer Henri-Alex Pantall’s stable on Tuesday.

Three Chimneys Farm’s Princesa Carolina also exited the race well, according to Pat Gilligan, assistant to trainer Kenny McPeek. After the race, McPeek indicated a possible next spot for Saturday’s third-place finisher could be the American Oaks (G1) at the end of the year at Santa Anita.

Augustin Stable’s homebred Varenka will be returning to Fair Hill Training Center in Maryland at trainer Graham Motion’s main base with plans to be determined, according to Motion assistant Alice Clapham.

“She is good this morning,” Clapham said of Varenka, who finished fifth. “She tried hard and that’s all you can ask.”

Sanford Bacon and Patrick Biancone Racing’s Kelsey’s Cross was scheduled to return to Florida tomorrow and get a break, according to assistant trainer Andie Biancone.

Her Majesty, The Queen’s Magnetic Charm (GB), who pressed the pace before dropping back to finish eighth, came out of the race fine, according to exercise rider Jess Campbell. Magnetic Charm was scheduled to leave this afternoon to return to England for trainer William Haggas.

Jim and Susan Hill’s Totally Boss, winner of the Runhappy Turf Sprint (G3) in his most recent start, worked a half-mile in :48.80 on the main track in company early Sunday morning for trainer Rusty Arnold. Totally Boss is being pointed to the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1) to be run Nov. 2 at Santa Anita.
Also working toward possible Breeders’ Cup engagements on the firm turf were Stonestreet Stables’ undefeated Cambria and Merriebelle Stable’s Walk In Marrakesh (IRE).
Cambria, working toward the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G2), covered 5 furlongs in company in 1:03.60 for trainer Wesley Ward. Walk In Marrakesh, prepping for the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1), worked a half-mile in :52 for trainer Ignacio Correas IV. Both races are Nov. 1.
Three Chimneys Farm and Fern Circle Stables’ Restless Rider, working toward a return to the races in next Saturday’s Lexus Raven Run (G2), worked 5 furlongs in 1:00.20 on the main track Sunday. Fractions on the work were :11.80, :23.80, :35.20, :47.80 and 1:00.20.
“She is doing super and this is a good spot for her,” trainer Kenny McPeek said. “She has had a rest since the Kentucky Oaks (G1) in May and she hasn’t sprinted in a while. She is doing good and we are hoping to have a good late season with her and maybe even next year.”
Other grass works of note for upcoming stakes included Pin Oak Valley View (G3) hopefuls The Mackem Bullet (IRE) (5 furlongs in 1:01.80), Lady Prancealot (IRE) (4 furlongs in :51.80) and Story Time (4 furlongs in :51.20).
Working toward next Sunday’s Rood & Riddle Dowager (G3) were Simply Breathless (GB) (6 furlongs in 1:16), Elysea’s World (IRE) (4 furlongs in :49.80) and Vevina (5 furlongs in 1:04.40).

GALLOPING OUT
Trainer Robertino Diodoro scored his first Keeneland victory Saturday when he sent out Heads Up Racing’s Belle Tapisserie to win the eighth race. Ridden by David Cohen, the 4-year-old Tapizar gelding won the 6-furlong race by 1¾ lengths in 1:10.04.

The Keeneland Library Presents “A Day in the Life: Volume I” – This new exhibit features the work of early Turf photographer John C. Hemment. The Keeneland Library is home to the largest known surviving body of work of Hemment, a photographer during the late 19th and early 20th century. A virtual counterpart of the Hemment exhibit is at keenelandlibrary.omeka.net/exhibits. Celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, the Library is free and open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET.
Sunday, Oct. 13
Kids Club Family Day – A day at the races for Keeneland Kids Club members and their families will include free general admission, access to reserved Grandstand seating and special activities including taking photos with a life-size cutout of Triple Crown winner Secretariat. Activities are located on the North Terrace from noon to 3 p.m.
Secretariat Festival – The annual event celebrates the beloved Triple Crown winner. Click here for more information. Events in Keeneland’s Sales Pavilion take place to 5:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Fall BCBC-NHC handicapping tournament – The tournament, which drew a record 171 entries in 2018, will award as many as five spots to the Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge at Santa Anita and eight spots to the National Handicapping Challenge in Las Vegas in 2020. Click here for more information.
