WARREN’S SHOWTIME, BULLETPROOF ONE & STRADARI ALL PROMINENT IN WIDE OPEN FIELD OF 12 IN $200,000 GOLDEN STATE JUVENILE FILLIES FRIDAY AT SEVEN FURLONGS
RACE IS PART OF LUCRATIVE GOLDEN STATE SERIES FOR CALIFORNIA-BRED OR SIRED HORSES
ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 28, 2019)—Well accomplished stakes winners Warren’s Showtime and Bulletproof One, along with promising Golden Gate Fields maiden winner Stradari all figure prominently among a field of 12 two-year going seven furlongs in Friday’s $200,000 Golden State Juvenile Fillies at Santa Anita.
For juvenile fillies bred or sired in California, the Golden State Juvenile is sponsored by the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association and is part of the lucrative Golden State Series.
Warren’s Showtime, a daughter of red-hot California-based sire Clubhouse Ride, comes off an impressive win in the one mile turf Surfer Girl Stakes here on Oct. 6 and she’ll shorten up in distance and try dirt for the second time in her career.
Bulletproof One, a lightning quick daughter of Idiot Proof, is a two-time stakes winner who will be trying two turns for the first time, while Stradari, a daughter of top California sire Square Eddie, comes off a four length romp in her 5 ½ furlong debut on synthetic Tapeta.
WARREN’S SHOWTIME
Owner: Benjamin & Sally Warren
Trainer: Craig Lewis
A solid third in her only other main track race, a 5 ½ furlong Cal-bred maiden special weight four starts back at Del Mar July 17, Warren’s Showtime, who is out of Ben Warren’s Grade I winning Warren’s Veneda, broke her maiden in her next start, a one mile turf affair on Aug. 21. Although she took the Surfer Girl at 35-1, there was nothing flukish about the way she did it and Lewis, who also conditioned the sire and dam, intended to run in Saturday’s seven furlong stake all along.
BULLETPROOF ONE
Owner: Gary Barber, Cecil Barber & Eclipse Thoroughbreds
Trainer: Peter Miller
Originally owned and trained by Ellen Jackson, Bulletproof One is the most accomplished filly in the Golden State Juvenile Fillies, with a pair of stakes win and earnings of $159,400. Most recently a troubled second, beaten a head in the five furlong turf Speakeasy Stakes here Oct. 6, she’ll be making her sixth overall start and fourth for Miller on Saturday. Although she’ll be trying a route of ground for the first time, she handled the turf well in the Speakeasy and may never look back if she can shake loose heading to the far turn.
STRADARI
Owner: Glen Road Racing LLC & HorseShare, LLC
Trainer: O.J. Jauregui
Off at even money on Sept. 21 at Golden Gate, she dominated six rivals in a gate to wire romp that convinced her connections to take a shot on Saturday. A $30,000 Fasig Tipton Santa Anita 2-year-old in Training Sale purchase this past summer, Stradari could prove bothersome to anyone with front-running intentions. Bred in California by Reddam Racing, LLC, she’s out of the Ecclesiastic mare Lyla Della.
