Gulfstream Sets Weekday Handle Record for December
$1.25 Million Guaranteed Pool for Friday’s Rainbow 6
Saez Rides Five Winners, Navarro Has the Hat Trick

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Gulfstream Park’s total handle Thursday of $12.303 million was a record for a weekday in December.

The 10-race program, which featured the return of jockey Edgard Zayas and a five-win afternoon by jockey Luis Saez, topped the previous December weekday record of $10.2 million set on Dec. 29 of 2017.

Gulfstream’s Championship Meet continues Friday with a guaranteed pool in the 20-cent Rainbow 6 of $1.25 million. First race post is 12:35 p.m. Saturday’s program features six turf stakes including the Tropical Park Derby and Tropical Park Oaks. First race post is noon.

Who’s Hot: Reeves Thoroughbred Racing and trainer Kathy Ritvo, jockey Luis Saez and trainer Jorge Navarro.

Ritvo saddled the first two finishers on the fourth race in He’s Super Lucky ($8) and Beyond the Call and came back in the fifth with Hartling ($4.20)…Saez won five races on the day. Along with Hartling and He’s Super Lucky he rode into the winner’s circle with Tough N Buff ($7.40) in the third, Swagger ($9) in the seventh and Xy Speed ($5.40) in the 10th… Trainer Jorge Navarro had a three-win afternoon with Xy Speed, Swagger and Tough N Buff….
