The 49th Eclipse Awards will be presented on Jan. 23, 2020, at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla.
As a member of the National Turf Writers and Broadcasters I’m allowed to vote in both the equine and human categories for the 2019 awards. We select three places in each division and the winners are determined by the amount of votes they get for all three placings. Below are my picks for each category.
Horse of the Year: 1st – Bricks and Mortar, 2nd – Maximum Security, 3rd – Mitole
Two-Year-Old Male: 1st – Four Wheel Drive, 2nd – Structor, 3rd – Maxfield
Two-Year-Old Filly: 1st – British Idiom, 2nd – Sharing, 3rd – Bast
