Saturday’s Rainbow 6 Carryover Jackpot Pool Guaranteed at $3.5 Million
G1 Winner Starship Jubilee Set for Sunshine Millions F&M Turf
Red Crescent Favored for $200,000 Sunshine Millions Classic
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The 20-cent Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot pool will be guaranteed at $3.5 million for Saturday’s Sunshine Million program at Gulfstream Park. (First-race post: 11:40 a.m.)
The popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the 35th consecutive racing day of the 2019-2020 Championship Meet at Gulfstream Friday, when multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $296.30.
The Rainbow 6 jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
Saturday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 7-12, including four Sunshine Millions stakes for Florida-bred horses. The sequence will kicked off with a six-furlong optional claiming allowance in Race 7, followed by the $150,000 Filly & Mare Turf, the $100,000 Sprint, the $150,000 Turf, the $200,000 Classic, and a 1 1/16-mile turf race for $16,000 claimers.
Starship Jubilee, who earned Grade 1 credentials while winning the E. P. Taylor at Woodbine in October, is slated to seek her third straight victory in the +Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Turf. The Kevin Attard-trained 7-year-old mare, who was claimed for $16,000 at Gulfstream in February 2017, has won five graded stakes and $1.17 million in purses.
Red Crescent, who won the Millions Classic Preview at Gulfstream Park West before finishing fourth in the Harlan’s Holiday (G3) at Gulfstream, has been installed as the 5-2 favorite in the 1 1/8-mile Classic.
Who’s Hot: Javier Castellano rode three winners, scoring aboard Jades Gelly ($5.50) in Race 3, Rakeez ($11.80) in Race 6, and Chicklet’s Dream ($3.20) in Race 8.
Jairo Rendon, who rode three winners Thursday, came right back Friday to win twice, scoring aboard Miss Aliphant ($11.40) in Race 2 and Red Nation ($27) in Race 4.
